Suunto Nautic S General Discussion
-
@Tomas5 On the technical drawing it looks like it has OHR… this watch is a mystery. Really looking forward to the first reviews
-
@Tomas5 correct
Ocean = Dive + Sports
Nautic S = Dive Only -
Does this completely kill sales and development of the D5?
When my Ocean died I went back to 9PP and D5. I’d forgotten how good the 9PP really is but the d5 felt awful to use.
I can’t see any scenario where a D5 competes with this new model.

the nylon strap looks great but is a strange choice for a dive watch. i love my garmin ultrafit but i hate getting it wet because it takes ages to dry, and feels uncomfortable if you wear it beforehand.
that said, suunto list it is a ‘textile’ strap rather then nylon so maybe they’ve solved this problem, somehow.
-
@pavel.samokha …and the cheaper Nautic S supports sidemount…which stuffs those of us who already bought an Ocean…and your silence suggests that how it will stay.
-
@GS-111 you really need to read what I wrote above
-
The ‘hope’ for ‘eventually’ and ‘mostly’ is very vague and not an official statement for suunto (although I hope that it will be the case as you probably internal information)
But - judging from the super slow and neglected ocean release cycle (compared to vertical for example)
Im not really optimistic in terms of timelineMy expectation as a customer would be that those features would be available on Ocean as soon as the Nautic S is officialy released and sold (as it means that those parts in the software are already implemented and tested)
-
Does anyone know something about the customizable displays of the Nautic S ? This is exactly what I’m waiting for on the Ocean.

This is the community forum, if you want official information it should be asked via other channels.

Dive and outdoor devices have different testing and different release cycles for obvious reasons

Hello !
FYI, the Nautic S manual has been published !
https://ns.suunto.com/Manuals/Suunto_Nautic_S/Userguides/Suunto_Nautic_S_UserGuide_EN.pdfI happen to own this computer, and some of the instructions in the manual are not included in the current firmware, notably the tide widget and specifically the customization of the dive screen.
-
@Patrick-D Trimix not available on Suunto Nautic S ??
-
@Nandodiver Nope
-
The Nautic S is now available to buy

-
Interesting. There is a new 3D image on the website now. No OHR Sensor, so its not just stripped Software
-
@Patrick-D But comparsion view on Suunto website says ‘Yes’ for ‘Helium’. For Nautic S, but not for Ocean. Also the Nautic S can operate to 80m and Ocean only 60m. Thats strange, I guess to comparsion view needs an update for both watches

@VoiGAS
The Nautic S intends to be the best recreational dive computer without all the multisports and its 250€ cheaper than Ocean.The Nautic S competes with Mares sirius, dive ratio, Mission 3, descent G2, Teric, Galileo G3
The Ocean competes with fenix 8 & apple watch ultra 2
The MK3 competes in league on is own, also in much higher priceIn my opinion the Nautic S is excellent dive computer for recreational dive with Air integrated at super price.

-
After checking the manual of the suunto nautic S, i just ordered one

I like the looks and functions of the Ocean, but i dont need all the multisports.
-
@Nandodiver Comparison on Suunto home page doesn’t seem correct. E.g. Ocean nowadays has surface time notify.
-
@marbjo you might be right about surface time…
Also ive found in other groups someone mention the diferences between Ocean and Nautic S
***Thanks for your feedback! The Ocean and Nautic S have different features due to hardware differences. We’re always improving via firmware updates, but some advanced Nautic S functions may not come to the Ocean.
Keep your device updated, and feel free to share any feature requests!The Nautic S supports dual transmitter for sidemount diving and be able to display simultaneously the pressure in each of two tanks.
The Suunto Ocean currently does not support simultaneous display of two tank pressures for sidemount diving. It can connect to multiple Tank PODs, but only the active gas’s pressure is shown. Unlike the Nautic S, dual‑tank display is not available on Ocean, and there’s no official confirmation it will be added in the future.***
