Suunto Vertical 2 General Discussion
-
@Egika The problem is that Vertical 1 requires a newer OHR, the rest may still be enough for a few more years.
-
@Egika
Fully agree. When I say « disappointed » it’s because I love the brand ; change would have be more to satisfy my envy more than my needs (and because I’m a very reasonable guy, that’s why I don’t change for now ! I just need to deal with frustrations now !!)
-
@maszop I suspect that I will continue to run with the Coros HFM wristband despite the new OHR. I don’t think the OHR is that accurate.
-
@runomatic you’ll be suprised!
-
@runomatic OHR is never very precise, but it may be sufficient for less intense activities (like in Garmin, Apple, and possibly the Race2/Vertical 2).
OHR in the Vertical 1 is usually useless. -
So according to reviews, there is nothing great instead of battery life and fast map. I like the design, but Garmin seems much better with OHR, sleep tracking, navigaton for the same price… And I have to say that even if I switched from F7 to Race.
-
@Egika In summer, I have few problems with the OHR (whether Garmin or Suunto). In winter, we’ll see whether the Vertical 2 really offers an improvement.
I’ll be getting a SV2 to test soon. I’m really excited about it.
-
About the strap : this new athletic 9 model looks very close to athletic 2 that equiped the SV1. Does materials have changed ?
-
@Tieutieu more stretchy and less stiff than V1
-
Also in Czech review they said, that the flashlight is much weaker than on T-Rex 3 Pro and much more weaker than in Garmin F8.
-
@isazi arggglll bad news I already have too much different straps…
-
I’m getting the titanium version for the price of the steel version, so I’ll take the risk. The package should arrive tomorrow
-
@Kurt68 This seems like a good price
-
Congrats Suunto but I still love my Race watch. Only for a flashlight and some other small features there is no reason to change. And I don’t need every new watch that gets released.

I love how you talk to yourself.

I used the watch since, I don’t know, May or something like that (not going to check, not that important).
It is a good watch, I climbed with it up to 4554 meters on Monte Rosa, mountain biked for 7 hours, did hiking, running, cycling, all the usuals. For me, it’s the watch I’d buy today if I had to change my watch (Vertical 1 titanium), but unfortunately I cannot justify replacing a perfectly functioning watch just because a new one is released. I’m sure Vertical 2 will become even better in the future, but it’s already very good. OHR for me is spot on, even mountain biking, and GPS is also good. The screen is fantastic, but I personally cannot still get used of having a black screen on my wrist, and AoD really reduces battery life a lot. But visibility is great, it wasn’t in the past, but I had no issues since mid July, even in Italy during summer.
I’m glad my watch is still being supported, and maybe in two years I’ll buy Vertical 3

Does the Vertical 2 increase the number of Suunto App that can be concurrently loaded for a given activity? This is one of my biggest limiters in using my Vertical 1.
I have workout guide + a Sport App, but ideally I would like to have 2 or 3 Sport Apps alongside my workout guide. Ex: Workout Guide + Stryd + Train.Red + Core BodyTemp.
I’ve not found any information related to Suunto App changes for the Vertical 2.
Thanks

@tkernen dame as before, but new hardware may allow for that in the future. But no.
-
@isazi Does it have Lactate Threshold estimate like the Race?
-
@Jan-Suchánek Interesting - DC Rainmaker said brighter… actually too bright on default setting
