Rucking
-
Rucking is catching on and becoming quite popular, would love to see it in next update
-
@peegee I agree with this. I see there are a few prior posts discussing this, with varying views on whether it’s worthwhile. I think it is. There is a real, calculable difference in work performed rucking versus other activities. And, given the Pandolf equation for calculating caloric burn exists already, it’s a pretty easy add by Suunto.

@JamesInTahoe just changing your weight in the app/watch does not achieve the same?
-
@aiv4r that’s like saying there is already tennis, so why not just shorten the racquet in the watch if you want to play pickleball?
A dedicated sports mode is preferred. It is a very popular activity. It belongs on there over many of the silly ones already placed in the watch. Even if it starts off basic as just a category where you can track it as rucking and enter your pack weight for categorical purposes. Garmin does it on their adventure watches. Amazfit is about to add support. It’s just a new activity type that shouldnt just natively fall under hiking or walking.

@ROBMONTGOMERY i get it, just offered a solution, while there is no other options.
Also I would be fine if all raquet sports would be the same sport
I also did not know that “Rucking” is popular and what is the difference from hiking (if walking) or trail running (if running), but that is on me -
@aiv4r I think power calculation would be wrong if you change the weight. Also it would be good to have the weight documented in the activity.
-
@VoiGAS i am pretty sure that weight is part of Power calculation everywhere, so if you weight more (or have a rucksack that increases your weight) the power should be higher. It is still just guesstimate as it is an algorthm predicting the power

@aiv4r Yes, but that should change your power/weight ratio (Watt/kg value). But I didn’t try it so far, maybe it somehow works
