Smart Belt with Race
-
Hi there,
I‘m used my SR with a Garmin HRM Pro with no issues what so ever. Last week inoticed some damage on the Garmin Belt so I thought, No problem I just take the Suunto Belt again. I Chance the battery and during the first five minutes everything is fine, after that the Watch just showes “—-„. I hoped the data would be synced afterwards which it did but there is no HR Data shown in the APP.
I allready have a new strap but not jet tried. And other ideas or should i order a new sensor module?
Any ideas?

@HoBart you paired the different HRM to the watch before starting?
-
@larrybbaker Yes, of course.
-
@HoBart could you pair your Suunto Belt with some other device and check if ti works?

@HoBart
It’s most likely to be a problem with the belt, assuming it isn’t new/nearly new. It’s worn or needs cleaning, wasn’t wet enough or was moving on your chest. I’ve found that as a strap gets older, it’s much more sensitive to all of this until eventually nothing you do will make it work properly. This has happened to all of my Suunto and Polar straps within a few months, whereas I’ve never had an issue with the sensor module. And it’s never been a problem with the watch. Even if it lost connection, which mine never do, the Suunto sensor would transfer data at the end.You said you had a new strap, so I would try that with the same sensor. It’ll most likely work. Then, try cleaning your older strap to see if you can get it working again. In my experience though, as the strap ages you’ll get increasing anomalies in the r-r data no matter what you do (you can check this in Runalyze). If the bad readings are not too frequent, your watch can still derive HR from the data. If very bad, it’ll show either unrealistically low, high or no value at all.

@MKPotts I tried the new strap today but it was the Same behavoir. During the running Intervalls there was No Heart rate on watch. During the indoor sessions (HYROX style training) the Heart rate was way to high.
Maybe the modul is the problem, don‘t you think?

@HoBart I tried various scenarios this week but I didn‘t get the belt to work properly.
First problem: I always have to pair the Belt as a new device. This means I have to erase the old HR belt, despite being the Same belt, otherwise the watch wouldn‘t recognize it. This is pretty annoying because it takes a lot of time. Never had this problem with my Garmin HRM pro belt.
Second Problem: When pairing finally recognized the belt, the heartrate is completely out of control. It jumps up and down nowhere near a correct reading.
I‘m happy for any helpful suggesttions.
Strap is new, battery is new only modul is „old“. -
@HoBart is your phone in Bluetooth range when the watch is not connecting to the sensor? Has the sensor ever been connected to your phone? Try turning BT of on the phone to see if there’s any interference, like the phone is trying aggressively to connect.
Regarding the HR readings, do you have the new belt (which has a light gray patch around the sensor connectors)? That one is more reliable then the old one (black patch). -
@halajos The strap is the new one with the grey patch. But I‘ll try your suggestion with the phone.
Stay tuned…

maybe the unit is defective, it creates too many problems imho
