New watch faces?
-
@Arju-Ambin +1 on this
-
@Arju-Ambin +1 for red night mode. Keeping your night vision sometimes can be very important. Some might even call it a safety feature.
I also expect that the red color in race watch faces will be fixed in the next update. Right now, it’s leaning more towards orange than red.
-
@Prenj yeah definitely a safety feature. Especially when pitch black outside. Or even at home while at night it’s creates less strain for the eyes. What I love about Suunto is that useful features seem handpicked and not all over the place. Hopefully this feature would happen as it’s really useful.
Saw that too that the red color is not really red. Hopefully that’ll get fixed sooner.
Wish and hope for Suunto to make some sort of watch face maker program for computer as Garmin, Samsung and probably many more has. I’m sure by doing so Suunto will benefit from upscaling their sales as more would purchase Suunto watches for their customizability and especially for the cost of the watch compared to competitors. This feature alone would drive up the sales as many devs would release watch faces directly to SuuntoPlus Store and could profit from them and Suunto will get free advertisement by doing so. Hopefully this won’t be a missed opportunity

Hello, are there any news about new watch faces? I know we were promissed a while ago, they would come with the new updates, but it was a bit vague. Also I am a bit confused, as I thought, we wouldn’t have to wait for updaes as they are now on the “market”.
I’d love to see a bit of finesse introduced.soon

@Arju-Ambin Seeing the current chase after any possible battery drain issues, I wouldn’t expect opening the API for custom watchfaces as this could introduce even wider problems with battery consumption in the long run.
-
@kriskus that depends on what information is pulled by the API. Been reading up on the battery drain issue and I’m sure and hope that is being prioritized now above everything else. If the fear of opening up an API for creating battery drain issues is there then it comes down to not having control over the data that’s being pushed out. How Garmin and others who allows this has done is to strictly make sure to only allow certain form of information/complications so that they have control. Some watch faces will have more complications than others or some have animations such as second hand or numbers changing every second which will add a slight drain. The positive part is that a battery efficient watch face could be created also and not only one that is fully packed with complications that might drain. So if Suunto controls the data of the API, then battery drain shouldn’t be an issue. However I do agree focus should be on the current battery drain issue. But one can hope that there’ll be more watch faces, personally I hope more for a red night mode as an accessibility feature.

Another issue I’m wondering about is altimeter drift. Any word on whether that’s being addressed? My Race currently shows me at -74 feet but it should be at about +65 feet. If I set it manually it will drift away from the truth slowly over days. The barometer seems to be fine, as I can check it against multiple sources, but the altimeter definitely isn’t fine. Considering that this seems to be a fairly common complaint I’m hoping a software fix can be issued.

@TitaniumDave
This should probably go in separate topic. I wrote about this some months ago. I’m facing exact same problem. My guess is Race does not have the algorithm that switches from baro to altimeter mode when not in activity, like older devices have. Or at least it does not work well. It also might just be a bug.It would be great if someone from suunto clarified this.

@Stefano-M64 no promise, but maybe next week is a good bet - if nothing unexpected happens…
Some time ago it used to be “take cable to office” days
