Question about syncing

I am probably missing some setting or have something wrong, but my watch only syncs automatically when I finish an activity. Otherwise, if I want to update the weather forecast, I have to open the app to sync the watch or manually sync it. Is this normal or is there a setting for the watch to sync periodically? I am using Android.

Getting fed up of having to scroll through the same posts each visit?
