After many years I finally lost my Garmin and bought the Suunto 9 Peak Pro. However I am really struggling with pool swim splits. Tonight I manually used the split button every single time I stopped and started, yet when I look at the “interval” section of my session the times are completely incorrect (because our coach also read the times off and I know the difference between my sprint speed and my warm up speed)! Also if I did say 50m it would record my first 25m as something like 13s (which I can’t do) and the second as 29s when it should be closer to 20s / 20s as an example.
When I look at the “manual” section it is basically divided into single lengths of 25m even though I swam a variety of intervals ranging from 25m to 400m, so it is not at all correlated with my manual time keeping of using the split button.
Lastly it rarely correctly identifies my stroke. Doing one or two fly kicks after pushing off the wall is not the same as swimming butterfly for a whole length. Swimming breaststroke isn’t free (it could never correctly identify breaststroke).
I am happy to work together to help improve this but either I’m completely misunderstanding how to use the functions (in which case are they too complicated?) or otherwise the software has a very long way to go to be competitive.
