Always on setting during activity (cycling)
-
@Lukáš-Blažek if you have always on display it should also work that way during activity, but on the handlebars your watch may think (rightly so) to be off wrist and turn the screen off. Feedback has been reported to Suunto and next firmware should fix this (among other things).
-
@isazi the problem is that the display turns off even during running activity when the watch is on the wrist
-
@Lukáš-Blažek do you have always on display also in daily mode? Anyway next firmware will fix this behavior, and works quite well. Hopefully you will be able to get it soon.
-
@isazi is dual power coming also?
-
@i5boi what do you mean with dual power?

Dual-sided pedal-based power meters measure the power individual per pedal. So the total power output is the sum.
However, I have understood that Suunto only uses one of the pedal outputs and then just doubles the power rather than using the sum of both pedals. I assume that this is what is referred to.

I think this has not much to do with the topic of this thread, has it?

Just trying to answer Isazi’s question regarding “dual power” which is another cycling related limitation in Suunto watches. So this discussion is not completely off-topic
-
@i5boi do you have dual sided stages like me?
If here is the wrong place for the question, maybe you can answer or comment here:

@isazi left & right side power readings from pedals or dual sided crank like SRAM, etc.
-
@zucchero I don’t know if SA from SR is showing 50% or not. Trying to wait for an update so I don’t have to buy a dedicated computer.
I have the dual sided crank (force d2) & only get one reading. Not sure if it’s 50% (I have no other baseline to compare) or it’s an average of the 2 or just one side (left or right?) idk.

@i5boi I have no clue, I am only aware of the issue discussed in this topic.

This does need to be addressed. Need to have an always on option on sport mode customization. Went running today for the first time with the Race All Black. Screen went far too often and too quickly. Alternatively they could have always on be a pinnable widget or have it be an option for the shortcut button.
-
@Russ-Wright it is there with the July firmware. In the pre-activity screen select the always on for the sport mode you are using.
-
@isazi This works quite well after the update, if you mount the watch on the bicycle.
One issue is, that the always on display drains battery much more. And It’s not necessary if you have the watch on your arm. For my Race I have to take care, that it’s fully loaded, when I want to do a few hours bycicle ride.
Before the update it was like in the running mode - display faded and if you raise your arm, full brightness. Is this behaviour possible with the current firmware, as well? To avoid the battery drain, I’ve disabled always on, but then the display is completely black and it takes a second until I can see anything.
I can live with it, but would be nice, if this option would be availabe - for my case it was better previously. -

The display will be dimmed and the map reduced until you raise your arm. -
Hey on the topic of always on mode. It was added in some last update but not working as expected (or maybe I’m not setting this up right). So in cycling mode I have display setting in always on + 3 options: off, display only, full awake mode. Non of it allows to have maps screen always on when watch on handlebar. So it’s working on any other screen in cycling mode BUT not maps.
Make no sense as you can’t use the function as it’s described so always on. Any plans to change it I next software update. I use my suunto race mounted on handlebar and it’s useless when I want to use maps for direction…
