Airplane mode
-
@Danny-poleg if you activate airplane mode through the Control Panel, it does nothing. This method is currently broken.
If you go to Settings->Connectivity and enable airplane mode that way, then it works. It will turn off wifi and Bluetooth.

@Mads-Hintz-Madsen thank you
-
@Mads-Hintz-Madsen I asked Suunto and they confirmed me that the behavior of that button (in the control panel) is to disconnect wifi but not Bluetooth. I asked why the two different airplane modes in the watch and they said it may be streamlined in the future.
-
@isazi thanks for following up on that. Slightly confusing with the same name for different functions.
-
@isazi Thank you for explaining this! I think it is another example of some weird logic that makes sense to Suunto employees, but confuses customers/users of the watch.
Another one that I’ve been confused about is why “Alarms”, not Alerts (sunrise, sunset, storm alert)? It would make it less confusing next to Alarm clock, which could be just Alarms.
-
@Mads-Hintz-Madsen I’ll report if there are changes.
-
@Danny-poleg There has been this notice to Suunto since 2023. The question is why Suunto does not react and fix it. What a pity. Suunto doesn’t just seem to be on the decline in terms of technology, its service seems to be too.
-
@mr-quality so you go around the forum just to comment on how bad Suunto is, without any real knowledge of the issues. Trolling is not tolerated in the forum, so behave.
-
@mr-quality This is a forum to help users and a community to discuss. If you have suggestions great! If you have issues great, we can try to help solve them. If Suunto is so bad for you no one is preventing you from using another brand. I agree that there are UI decisions that I may not understand, I am sure there are reasons for them and underlying issues either preventing a “fix” or a reason that the “fix” you desire will cause other problems.
-
@mr-quality I don’t think like you, I’ve been through many watch companies and still Suunto knows how to provide professional solutions for athletes, amateurs and professionals, without all kinds of different marketing madness
-
@isazi I am referring to the information provided by Suunto in its operating instructions. So there is a discrepancy between what is written and how the Race behaves in my case. Furthermore, if the feedback from the live chat is that a soft reset or hard reset should be carried out and if the airplane mode still does not deactivate the Bluetooth mode, then a return to a service center is required, then something is probably not right at Suunto. My expectation: a reliable user manual and live support that is up to date. Calling me a troll just because you don’t like my posts, well. You could also use the feedback to identify and eliminate the causes.
-
@Brad_Olwin The topic of Airplane Mode has been here in the forum since 2023. There are questions about it and there is feedback that it would not work, which can only be the case on the basis of the operating instruction. Again, why have the operating instruction not yet been adapted accordingly and why have the support staff not been able to communicate this? Simply referring to Soft and Hard Reset and Service Point is not helpful here. This is not about UI decisions, but about clarity about what is actually activated or deactivated with this setting. Do you have the opportunity to address this with Suunto? Great, then please. I use all three brands, by the way.

@mr-quality
well, if nothing is better than an exhaustive documentation, but a decent manual is better than nothing, don’t you agree that a decent manual is better than an exhaustive documentation ? -
@mr-quality I call you a troll because of your trolling behavior and zero contributions to the community. Peace and love
-
@isazi Do you have any update about the airplane mode which should act the same (disabling Wifi & Bluetooth) whether it is swicthed on/off from contol panel or settings?
Thanks!
