@isazi Thank you for your answer. I didn’t know that the problem had been traced back to Sunnto. Especially since the technical support did not seem to want to understand the explanations of my problem, in any case, they did not tell me that they were aware.

@fondueaufromage I do not know if the user-facing support has a list of all technical issues the firmware developers are working on.

@isazi Hi again. I noticed something strange while testing that may not have been reported ?!
We know that the trace disappears little by little from the starting point during activities, for my part during ski touring.
Then, what is strange, I tried twice to record an entire normal day, that is to say going to work and coming back in the evening, 10 hours later with very little difference in altitude in this case. I noticed that the trace had not disappeared. However, I used the same sports profile.
I did these tests with my Vertical and Peak 9 Pro; for both, the problem appears in the mountains but not for a normal day.
Could there be a bug in the algorithm when it has to take into account the difference in altitude ?? Is this a relevant detail to bring up at Suunto?

@fondueaufromage so you recorded the whole day? Or have the watch paused? Were you moving the whole day?

@isazi Yes, I recorded the whole day, without stopping the record from 7am to 7pm. From home to word (25km), stay to work whole day and come back in the evening (25km again). Unfortunately, I didn’t have a good GPS reception during time spent at the office. I didn’t move much there but I was outside a few times.
The starting point of the trace has not moved. And, obviously, I used the same sports profile as during the ski touring.

@isazi I hope that Suunto will take this problem seriously and resolve it quickly because there is no point in having a high-performance GPS watch if it is not possible to use the track to retrace your steps.

@fondueaufromage I have the same problem and it happens with ski touring. I have a long tour on Sunday and will check again. I am one of the testers that reported this to Suunto and know that they are aware of the issue. I observed this as well during a 50k trail race last weekend that only had ~1700m of elevation change over 7.5h.

Unfortunately I am going through the same frustration over the bike navigation on my SR, particularly with the display and navigation cursor. The display often dims at inconvenient times, and occasionally brightens too late or unnecessarily. Additionally, when I touch the display to check it, the arrow navigation cursor becomes off-center, and eventually disappears entirely, leaving the screen frozen. (AOD is On along with Full wake mode).

While I appreciate the efforts of testers in bringing this issue to Suunto’s attention, there’s uncertainty surrounding when or if this problem will be fixed. Which brings me to my dilemma:
What bike navigation are you using or you’d recommend? I hesitate to use my phone and I am also not really keen spending half the price of my SR on a bike computer when I really need just a navigation.

@vjakub I use a Wahoo. My Suunto is the Vertical which is fine on a bike. The Race behaviour does sound very frustrating.

@vjakub I also use Wahoo (Bolt V2). The screen is perfectly readable in all lightning conditions. In my opinion AMOLED watch + bike simply doesn’t work.

@wmichi Unfortunately I’m afraid you’re right about the AMOLED display for biking. I suppose a screen size of the Bolt v2 is not an issue for navigation/routing? (A bit ironic asking this since I was going to use a smaller screen of the SR for this purpose but still…).

I had the V1 Elements and replaced it with the V2 bolt. I find the screen excellent. And don’t really notice the smaller screen. Battery is also decent if not in the same league as the Vertical.

I like the Wahoo and the Vertical because of the screen. I find it strange when people say the Amaloed (and Garmin bike computer before the wahoo) is better. Give me readable performance in the outdoors in any lighting conditions over a bright screen when watching TV 🤣

@vjakub I am happy with it, for me the screen size of the Bolt is big enough.
