Race just crashed when changing watch face... :(
-
It just happened again. A crash… Wanted to change to a different watch face - selected the new one - pressed the crown and boom. Display turns completely dark, then illuminates for one minute while no button press does anything.
When turning the crown the tactile feedback can be felt. Then black again. Suunto Logo. Back it is…

@Olaf-Gottschalk https://www.suunto.com/support well worth a visit. They are pretty good at responding to this sort of thing.

@Olaf-Gottschalk Wow. You really do have like the most singular worst luck.
Do you ever think its just your negative Suunto vibe that is impacting the watch, and not the watch?
If you really want your relationship with your Suunto to flourish, maybe speak nicely to it, like a plant or a pet. Complain less about what its lacking, or what it should be, and just enjoy it in the moment.

That must be it since I haven’t had a single crash in 5 years with my Suunto watches (S9B, S9P and now the SV).
And yes, I do use the watch a lot -
@Olaf-Gottschalk Hav you had the watch replaced yet? Contact support as you have had a lot of issues and I doubt your hardware is ok.
-
@Olaf-Gottschalk perhaps we others can try to replicate your Problem? Wich watchface is the probably that make this Problem?! Greetings

Tried it. But I don’t think they really know what to do. Answers are always “restart your watch” - then “reset to factory settings” and then “send it in”.
What good is this? The devs need to know about these kind of crashes, and I thought they are present here or at least some Suunto employees.

@surfboomerang in what way does it help to tell people “I didn’t have a single crash in… years with a different product”?

It boost the suunto target user credit,
Working as the Chinese Social Credit System.

Just a little bit of positive feedback instead of all the ranting. That’s all.
-
@surfboomerang why do you call a description of an incident that happened a “rant”? If I were responsible for the quality of the software of a sports watch, I would like to not let the device crash at all. I would make sure I’d have enough tests and QA and as much feedback from users as possible. But hey, that’s just how I think.
-
It really seems to me like you have a defective unit. I would send it back and get a refund as I’m sure you are well within the warranty period

Can we have a moderator evaluate his presence on this forum?
I read it to get useful infos primarily, and I’m sure that’s true for the vast majority of us.
What is the value of all this new threads that are created whenever a minor inconvenience of his watch happens?
You got a crash changing your watch face? Then restart the watch and try again. Simple as that. -

Were you looking for advice?
If yes, please let the other users know.
Would you like Suunto to know about it and be able to fix it?
Check Q3 and help us track this down: https://forum.suunto.com/topic/9960/more-faq?_=1702893381768Without any additional information the initial post is of little use.

@Egika I have sent the information you said I should to Dimitrios… But he hasn’t replied.
I find it a little confusing as to what exactly this forum is. Are you employees of Suunto or not? Sometimes it feels like you are, sometimes it does not.
Why does Suunto need a forum to collect logs and align them with crash reports sent out via app? Does a “normal” user even find this forum to actually make use of “send logs” feature? The normal support I reached has never requested any logs which I found rather strange when I heard about it here… -
@Olaf-Gottschalk yeah logs are gotten. Its a edge case of memory corruption that is investigated. This happens on rare cases on the watchface. They also told me you had a crash mid activity and I also asked to check if this is anyhow HW releated since you have many issues. They said from what they see no most probably.

@Olaf-Gottschalk this weekend up to now my son was sick so I had little time.
This forum is a Suunto community forum as seen in the title. Its basically a “depot” for users to communicate with each other add feedback etc , which is monitored by me and others at Suunto , when needed. You will see that many moderators are just Fieldtesters or old forum users. These people have the connections to report issues and advice users here as they have more information available ie via Fieldtesting.
Additionally there are some people here like me that monitor the threads , give feedback, user sentiment , create announcements and so on. For example me , Pavel and others.
To cut a long story short:
yes there are people here from Suunto that get logs , reports issues and post internally to suunto forum threads so Suunto can monitor the threads and act with fixes etc. Sometimes even developers pm those users if needed. The same can happen with oether Fieldtesters and so on.
I hope it helps
