The perfect watch does not exist. Race is far from perfect, but after a year of using Fenix 7, Forerunner 955, Coros Apex 2 PRO, Coros Pace 3, I bought Race and I don’t intend to change anything for now. Race is a good watch and worth giving it a chance. I believe that once refined it will be a real gem.

I have been using Garmin, Polar, Coros and Suunto watches for 20 years for running and cycling. I currently have Suunto Race.

@Bogdan1921 It’s a nice watch. I like it and I use it every single day. Bought it on 10.11. Only regret I didn’t buy it earlier but I took my time making up my mind.

@Bogdan1921 The “bugs” you see here here are not affecting all users. It happens the most vocal are the ones affected. For example my values for CTL and TSB sync without issue, that does not mean there isn’t an issue but not a big one.
The main reason I am writing is to think carefully which watch you might want. I run and participate in ultras primarily in the summer. I love the Race for this. The maps on the Race are beautiful. However, during the winter I am Ski Touring or SkiMo virtually every weekend. While the Race screen appears ok (I have not tested yet with bright sun and snow everywhere) the crown will be an issue for me. I will likely lock buttons on the Race to prevent the crown from being activated with gloves on. Gloves will prevent me from using the Race effectively in the winter if skiing an I prefer the Vertical for this. For me the buttons on the Vertical do not need to be locked and I can manipulate the map with gloves on and not freeze my hands.
Each individual will have a different use case. The screen on the Vertical is very good too. I prefer that my watch is on all the time but I do not use AOD on the Race as I need long battery life.
Good luck and yes, time to replace the Baro, the problem is which watch?

@Bogdan1921 buy buy buy! I have none of the issues some are indicating they have. Very close results to all my other devices. I’m not going to win the TDF this year so I’m good. Race is consistent and that does matter.

@Bogdan1921 have used several Garmin watches and a Polar the last couple of years i went back to Suunto when the race was released. I can recommend it without doubt!

Complaints about bugs are the nature of SoMe and forums like this. It is exactly the same on the Garmin forum. I am impacted by a few bugs but is confident that Suunto will fix them pretty soon. To me me Suunto is back and i am sure more exciting stuff will come!

These are new products, so there will be “bugs” and “issues”. People, myself included, are sometimes emotional, because that’s our nature. When we see people complain we tend to get on board easily. Even though I also have a few minor things which bother me, I would still buy a Suunto watch. So if the watch meets your specs, go for it! Software can (and I hope will) be fixed, the hardware is just TOP. Disclaimer I have a Vertical, not a Race, but Suunto HW in general is great.

Hi, I’m newbie here; I’ve bought the Race just a month ago (first Suunto product I own), coming from Apple Watch 8 and Garmin Vivoactive4. Definitely not a ultra/tri/penta/epta/etc. athlete 😁, just a passionate about keeping myself in fit at over 50’s.
Yes, I’m encountering some little bugs, but nothing overwhelming at all; electronics has its weird behavior, even when things are super-well-tested.
And yes, all is questionable and improvable (due to our faulty human nature, btw 😉 )
Even if I’m not the most qualified tester nor a rainmaker 🕶 I think this is a really good product that makes me not longing for what I previously had and feel confident that it can only get better (okay, okay, maybe this is due to the xmas time 😁 😁).

Done, I’ve just ordered the Race black version after a lot of thoughts, analysis, reviews and comparisions ✌
Thank you very much for all the responses and help.

My son would like a Suunto Race as a Christmas gift. One feature that I don’t find in the specifications is the free diving monitoring as in the vertical, it’s true?

So after 5 years, I’ve replaced my old Suunto 9 Baro with Suunto Race.
As a first feeling, the watch is looking really really nice.
I was curious and I’ve ran 5km to see how it’s working and I’m really impresed by the screen.

As a cons, I see the charger a little bit “cheap”, or, it give’s me the feeling that can be moved very easy from the pole of the magnets.

                          I’m happy, thanks Suunto!

@Bogdan1921 The magnets cannot be too strong or they damage some of the sensitive internal components.

Enjoy! I came back to Suunto after leaving when the Ambit 2 (or may have been 3) came out and it didn’t have OHR whereas Garmin did. No regrets about moving away from the Epix Pro whatsoever.
