Map is downloaded to the watch only ???
-
In the Suunto App, Library, Offline maps, all my maps say: “Map is downloaded to the watch only”
Why does it say that? Can the maps be downloaded to another place? The phone? How?
Thanks -
@gilcu2
Why does it say that ?
Probably because it is like that, and maps cannot be downloaded to another place (at least in the current situation) -
@gilcu2 I think it’s obvious. You are downloading offline maps to your watch, so they are available in your watch. You are then able to plan routes in your phone upfront, and these routes are available in your watch, so that you can navigate outdoors via watch offline. Makes sense?

I guess it’s too clarify that the maps won’t be on your phone

Yes.
But it would be great to have the same download to the app as well.
However there is a problem , that for example on the watch you have 32 gb available for example and on the phone you can have a different amount , maybe not fitting and vice versa. So it’s not so easy. That’s why now , it’s only downloaded to the watch as the app also suggests.
Ideally we should have a sperate area for app downloaded maps vs watch or hybrid. As you see it’s not easy but would be most welcome.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos , must be good to have the option of download in both and copy between then when needed

i am not the expert on this, but, downloading to the watch is done over wifi (slow but still rapid), while copying from phone to watch would be over BT, no ? So it would probably not be that quick.
For my personal case, 32Gb of maps is plenty of enough to live my outdoor life

@Mff73 I have 16Gb in the watch only and plenty in the phone. So, this can save me in an unexpected place
