#2 is also how Vertical works. If you keep your hand still long enough, the display turns totally black and you have to move your hand again to turn the display on #worksasdesigned

I think this is by design. If touching the display activated the watch, it would be activated by rain drops or under the shower unintentionally.
Actually, if you set the tilt to wake mode to “full on” touch becomes active with raising your wrist - too much for my point of view. -
This is most likely by design as well. All recent Suunto watch screens so far go into some sleep mode, when they are lying still on the table. I guess when you are sitting totally still, exactly this is happening.
There is no difference if on aod mode raise to wake option is selected “off” or “just display”? At least my watch is working that way. Or is there something I’m missing? Only the “full on” mode also wakes the screen for full display. Should it work this way?
I mean it would be great if the watch worked so that the “just display” option would really (like the name says) activate the display to full screen but not the touch screen. So this would be usefull e.g. like you said, in heavy rain or shower. So you could check your watchface without scaring that the raindrops activate the menus. And then for example button press would activate also the touch screen (somewhat how vertical works…)

@SuuntoR right now, Race settings are designed as follows:
Raise to wake off: watch only comes alive with pushing a button and is then fully operational with touch etc. Display times out after half a minute.
Raise to wake display only: shows time only when raising wrist. Screen still locked. Times out immediately when lowering wrist.
Raise to wake full on": watch screen fully activated with touch on with raising your wrist. Times out immediately when lowering wrist.Independent setting:
AOD: shows just time after the timeout condition is met.I also would like the full on display with touch off to use even in wet environments… Right now the “full on” is no option there…

I am sorry but that is a bit of cop out and a nonsense reason - if that is the real reason for not allowing this functionality.
Virtually every other amoled watch allows touch to wake the screen, and yes occasionally drops on the screen can activate it, just as occasionally heavy jackets can do the same - but to prevent that option just cause it may trigger accidently is a cop out. You could then say that there shouldn’t be any wrist gesture either as its not unusual for wrist gestures to incorrectly trigger the screen awake while your arm/wrist is performing other actiions where the intent isn’t to wake the watch. Some people use touch only to wake the watch as the find wrist gesture triggers too frequently due to their general habits and mannerisms.
Would make far more sense if you are given an option if there is a concern about this; but have never seen this as discussed as a major issue on any other amoled watch including apple, samsung, pixel, huawei, amazfit, garmin etc etc; and thus requested as a default option.

@Jamie-BG I have no clue what the real reason for this is - this is my personal view.
I could not use a watch that is activated by touch. It would do anything, like starting activities, change settings etc. from just wearing it in wet conditions.But anyway. Leave the information without my personal reasoning as it is:
the behavior is by design, full-on is an option to use the watch with the dial or the touch screen right away after looking at it. -

I disagree as I would rather have this default. Remembering to turn off on AWUltra is a pain as I always forget. I would rather development resources go to more important issues than a choice here.

Actually I found out that the screen works quite nice considering these wet conditions! If aod and raise to wake “full mode” are on, and for example in the shower you tilt the watch to activate the screen (and why wouldn’t this work outside also if it rains heavily) the touch screen wont acivate even the drops touch the screen! So there is a raindrop detection!
Or more likely: also in dry conditions, if you scroll the screen with one finger, touch screen activates, but it won’t activate if you try to scroll it with two fingers, so probably a multiple touch point block on the screen. Nice

Wouldn’t it make much more sense to have it all set up as an option.
Then you can choose whether you want that or not. Just find it really weird that in this one area Suunto is way out of step with everyone else.
Always going to be a personal preferance.
