New owner of Suunto Race - first feelings
-
@ChrisA I did a run this morning and VO2max appeared again on the watch. Let’s see if it’s still there after my afternoon rollerski session I have never seen threshold/race prediction on the watch. Reason might be that I haven’t done any running intervals yet (HR maybe generally too low during my running workouts to calculate threshold values).
-
@wmichi that’s a possibility. I would love to see Suunto releasing more information on how this works, it seems to be an automatic process, but for me it’s not clear, how it works, e.g. like you say, does it need a certain HR percentage or a certain duration during a workout? Maybee Suunto is putting more information in the manual someday.
-
@ChrisA usually Suunto is putting this kind of information in their blog articles:
https://www.suunto.com/de-de/sports/Some good read in there
-
@Egika thanks, but can you find information on how the lactate threshold calculation is done on the race (I.e. does one have to ran a certain mileage a week, or duration or do you need to reach a certain HR level… ). I have read a lot of it and it’s really great information, but there seems no information on this yet.
-
@wmichi yesterday after my run I had VO2Max estimation, but today it is gone. I took picture yesterday, and today there is no that data available on the watch.
Today - nothing
Also sleep tracking for today was horrendous.
According to the watch I was awake better part of the night and I have 98% resources in the morning xD
Start of sleep and wake up times are correct, but all in between is terrible
-
@ChrisA I just finished my second workout today (roller skiing). Now my VO2Max value is no longer displayed on the watch. Clearly a little bug.
-
Just finished reading full review from DC and he is mentioning Monday’s firmware update?
-
@vlado Yes, Monday seems the big day. I found two more bugs (during training), but I think I will wait for the new firmware before reporting them to support.
-
Hey guys, should I start unboxing it?
-
@Highlands did they throw you this box from Finland?
-
@Likarnik From China.
-
For me it feels a bit more comfortable than the 9PP.
It’s updating now. From what I’ve seen and felt, I really like it. -
I moved to Vertical few days ago, from Peak Pro 9. Vertical was huge for my hand, compared to Peak 9 pro. Now After few days i think its perfect, and Peak 9 pro was just too small :D. Also Vertical (49mm like Race) suits better, and less move, its more comfortable!
Hey does this Race strap looks different than in Vertical/Peak 9 Pro? Seems like have bigger holes or its just my mind?
-
@Tami999 The strap is definitely different. Feels kind of softer than the one in my 9PP. Also, as I mentioned, for me this watch feels better on my wrist than 9PP. It’s a nice watch and I definitely like it, no doubt about that.
-
@Tami999 yes, the Race strap is more flexible than the Vertical one
-
@wmichi my VO2max is visible all the time (never vanished) but my running estimates and the lactate threshold number is gone. But I did not run outdoors for 10 days (just did some treadmill runs last week and didn’t run this week because of health issues), so maybe that’s the reason…
-
@ChrisA do you also track other sports besides running?
-
@wmichi outdoors mainly walks with the dog. They show a VO2max after completion,so that maybe the cause, that its showing up all the time. The rest is Indoor treadmill running, strength training and martial arts, which all don’t show VO2max scores.
-
@Highlands No do not unbox the watch…Let it fester in your mind until Monday:)
-
@Highlands Ahhh too late…I find the strap on the Race gives me better OHR readings, when I change it for one with “SUUNTO” on it my OHR is worse.
