      @andré-faria at the end of the day is how much data you need and how many activities you do. What I’ve found, I have Ambit 3 Vertical since 2015 and primarily for running. Recently, I got into open water swimming and trail running and A3V does everything I need:
      Running:

      • Pace;
      • Duration;
      • HR;
      • Ascent;

      Swimming;

      • Pace;
      • Distance;

      A month ago my display broke, however, the watch was working perfectly and the battery after the years was working fine. I’ve sent a watch for warranty, during this time I got Garmin Fenix 6 as I have started to look into interval training and all other modern features(not that I was not satisfied with Suunto, although, I wish the app was a bit better, so I could load-interval program into my watch).

      In the end, I’ve found Garmin not as comfortable as Ambit 3 and the number of apps, data was not very useful for me on a daily basis (good to know but not making much of a difference). I’ve tracked my sleep and HR during the day, the features I wanted when I got Ambit 3 ages ago, I think wrist HR and the colour display went out next year after I bought A3 and I thought I’ve missed a big time.

      I’ve ended up giving Garmin to my partner who really benefits from all of this data and for myself, I am happy with the repair service I’ve received from Suunto and I look forward to wearing the watch for the next 3 to 5 years as a daily driver. I do like Garmin as a modern alternative with all of the maps, route planning, interval training, surfing metrics, Spotify integrations etc and might be using it myself for hiking/tramping.

      But really, to progress in sport (generalising), I believe, you only need to track basic metrics and improve them over time and you don’t really need much, just a comfortable pair. I’ve found I got quite bonded with my watch it became very contextual over the years to wear it as I associate having a watch and a strap with running/swimming despite fallouts from the sport for months.

      Sorry for the rant haha, I do think it’s a pleasant experience if you liked it on your wrist, I’d recommend it for its comfort, durability and the amount modes/metrics you can have. I work out with mates who got S9P and Fenixes and the data we get is similar so no performance issues there as well.

        Have been happy with my A3P, the more threads I read on here the more I’m convinced it’s a great watch even compared with the latest offerings. Recently agonized over the purchase of S9P and S9B but I can’t justify the expense when the only real problem I need fixed is the SHR chest strap not working part of the time, so should I try another brand of chest strap HR? Like Polar maybe? Looking for someone to co-enable me thanks!

          @shailcaesar
          if the HR readings are bad the watch isn’t the issue 😉
          try another one, maybe from a friend and you might see improvement 👍

            @shailcaesar I had very good results with the Wahoo chest strap; and it is competitively priced.

                    Am I correct in thinking that the only difference between the A3P and the A3P Sapphire is the bezel and the ‘glass’ used? Thinking of getting one, because I just like the look ! 😊

                      I’ve had both and out of the top of my head, yes.
                      glass quality and the bezel 👍
