Bouldering / Indoor climbing
-
Hi All,
I had before already a Suunto 5 and was already surprised / annoyed when there was no indoor climbing profile.
Using climbing makes no sense as the GPS would be all over the place and just mess up your stats.
I’ve bought recently a Suunto 9 Peak Pro and even though there are over 80 sport modes, again no indoor climbing - that must be a joke.
There are just x-times all the same - Boxing / Martial Arts or Cycling and Gravel Cycling … and stuff like “Mermaiding” … really?
But any kind of indoor climbing or even bouldering - an Olympic sport - that’s not available … I have to say, that’s extremely disappointing. However, question would be: How can I create a good working modus, that would fit “Bouldering” or “Indoor Climbing”?
If I create one based on “Climbing” the GPS can not be disabled by default.
Optimal would be, if it could count routes (with the barometric function of the watch it should be possible).
But I would be already quite happy with something more than an “Undefined Indoor” sport mode.Does anyone has experience with it?
Otherwise I have to really think about returning this watch.Thanks.

@bahrar hi, I use s9pp for indoor climbing too. I created a custom sport profile based on climbing and disabled gps for this one directly in the watch.
It’s a bummer though that the watch doesn’t have an indoor climbing by default. S7 has it, by the way.

@bahrar it’s there, once you select climbing you can select it as a sub-profile, like running with power.

Hi @rooldaa and @Ze-Stuart,
Thanks for your answers. I’ve now created a custom profile; based on climbing and turned the GPS directly in the watch off.
I wonder, why these options can’t be set in the Suunto App. I really like the app, therefore, it is even more a pity that it is like that.
Let’s see, how it will be tomorrow in the hall.
Is there somewhere an address for Suunto, where we could raise an enhancement request?Take care.
Cheers

@bahrar Indoor climbing is there as one of the default sport modes. You have just not found it.
Like with mountain biking, some sports have “sub” sports. For mountainbiking you can select trail, enduro and downhill. For climbing there is indoor and outdoor. -
Hi , yes exist inside of Climbing a indoor sport mode.
I created this app thats is pending to publish or not , but is and example how to improve the indoor climbing : [https://github.com/osmufe/indoor-climbing/tree/v2.0](link url)
If you know or have experience of information that could be improved or added, please comment in the forum.

@omunoz wow, it would be awesome to see this app in the watch

@omunoz fantastic. I had something similar for my Ambit3 back in the golden age of technology. Really looking forward to seeing this published.
