Re: GPS problem with latest update in Fused Track mode
Hi All, i was out for my early morning run around the track at the school near me and i noticed that my average pace was way, way off. This is not a full 400m lap so it takes about 4.2 laps per mile and i usually run around 8:35/mile pace when in easy mode like i was today.
I was on my 6th lap when i realized the watch hadnt yet chimed for 1 mile. I looked down and it was showing me running a 15/mile pace. Um, wut? I clicked stop and then a “fused track calibration” prompt showed up (never have seen that before). I did the figure 8 thing and it said “successful” and then i went back to running and if anything things got even worse. I stopped that exercise and then started a new one and if anything it was even worse. First mile was OK as it showed me at a 8:49 and then the subsequent miles showed me running around 25 minute pace.
The map showed me all over the damn place on both runs. Like if i were high and drunk and flying around this middle school track. When i got home i recalibrated my compass fwiw. I looked up fused track and its something to help stitch together GPS tracks when GPS data is bad/not around? Is that accurate?
I looked at the Suunto Baro 9 user manual online and i must be dumb because i cant seem to find how/where to toggle my GPS settings. I thought there was a way to toggle b/n higher or lower GPS sampling? Would that help?
Any thoughts on how to get this back to normal? I am a semi-serious amateur runner and my watch data helps a lot w/training. Its never done this before…
Thanks!

Well i finally figured out where GPS mode is set. Its in “more options” when picking a sport mode. I have made sure its set to “performance” and ill try again tomorrow and see what sort of results i get.

@moreusernameftw This sounds as if you were set to a lower GPS setting, maybe even Ultra. This is set when you go into the exercise selection after selecting an exercise, you can change battery modes by pressing the upper left button, it will cycle from Performance to Endurance to Ultra to Tour on the 9b. The color around the Start will also change.
