Connection issue S9PP with Nokia phone

Nokia G21
I think it’s more a phone issue. I used to have issues with my previous phone (Motorola) and my S9B, some update fucked the BT on the phone and worked randomly, was totally un-estable, then they issued a patch that solved the issue partially, from time to time I had to turn on/off BT on the phone to establish connection, with Suunto and other devices. Some months ago I changed the phone and bought a Pixel 6a and zero problems with the BT connection with any device.

Why not? Finnish too and runs Android just fine.
-
@cosme-costa That is why I hooked up my old Garmin Forerunner 45 to the Nokia… zero issues!
-
Factory reset of S9PP… same issue with a brand new Nokia and working flawless on the 5y old Motorola… grrrr.
-
@twekkel Well I had problems with my Garmin 530 and my Motorola (more than 1 minute to establish connection and not always) and now with the Pixel zero issues, connection within seconds.
Phones are more complex and have higher possibilities to have incompatibilities due software, maybe if you check some Nokia forum you won’t be alone. As you said you do not have problems with the Suunto and the Motorola, haven’t you? Did you try with another phone if you have the same problem? Did you try a soft reset in the watch?
BTW, NOKIA mobile is not Finnish anymore, everything is done in Asia.
-
@twekkel I think you went through all steps. No need to pair to the phone via the Android bluetooth menu though, the app should take care of that. You also did a full watch reset so the reason cannot be that it is still paired to the other phone.
Which app version are you using?
Could be useful to also contact support. -

Nope, another Finnish company is licensing the brand and designing the products. Place of production lines is a different question.

Tried to pair 2 Bryton bike computers and a similar story as with S9PP, so basically only the FR45 worked. Never experienced this before. Naif of me thinking bluetooth=bluetooth, how hard can it be? (Worked with oscilloscopes in the past, to low level decode X.25 protocol handshakes, but it seems we made little progress in standardizing protocols in the past 20+ years)
Very quick stroll through the Nokia forum revealed similar issues.
Chatting with Nokia support online gave a very quick answer (no troubleshooting at all!) and got the advice to return the device. It is now in a box ready to be picked up. So the “brick 6310” of many years ago still remains my last Nokia, probably forever.
Thanks to all for putting me on the right track and blaming the phone!
-
@twekkel I could ask our engineers about this but it’s a far shot and even if fixed would take a long time.
As others advised if you also have problems with other devices return the phone is what I would do.
Another case could be removing Garmin connect or any other Bluetooth holding apps.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos it might be useful for others.
I switched to a Google Pixel and Garmin, Bryton and Suunto paired and stayed connected in the first attempt (with all apps active at the same time) without any issues.
