HR Chest Strap for S9PP
-
@DMytro How can I determine if I have the new belt or the old belt? I bought it over a year ago. Its a smart sensor belt.
-
-
@sartoric Thats the Suunto belt I have. Photo attached of the area on the belt that has become permanently wrinkled/stretched thin. I’ve been wearing HRM’s for decades and this is the first belt to have warped on me. Before this I had Garmin RUN belt and Polar H10.

@dmn23
There is a small tip, polar products hr belt for horses as well…so if you can not find your size, I mean if… you know… -
@Umer-Javed I don’t think that the new strap is machine washable, mine isn’t.
-
The replacement chest strap for your Suunto Smart Heart Rate Belt. Also compatible with the Movesense Sensor. This item does not include the transmitter.
The chest strap is fully machine washable (remove the module first).

Yes cold water washing, cold as your ex’ heart.
Hot water will hurt the elastic part, if you do it with hot water, you can get a Suunto belt horse epical edition.
-
@zhang965 my H10 chest strap already smells like horse shit despite washing it in washing machine once a week and hand wash/rinse after every use…

Interestingly it’s not just that (even if that’s also a concern); it’s also that temperatures 40° and over will bind the protein residue from the skin to the rubber on the electrodes, permanently damaging the belt’s ability to properly read electrical signals.

@mikekoski490
Same issue for me, but belt is still working.
Other issues i had with suunto belts (New model) is that electrode material unsticked quite quckly.
Suunto changed them under warranty without issues.
As there seems to be some specialists there, which kind of glue could I use to try to fix them? I tried neoprene glue, but it doesn’t work long enough.
Belts are still working well though.

Hold on, if I wash my underwear in 40 degrees, will the protein stick on my underwear, or it’s only for electrodes?
Thanks
-
@zhang965 better put your protein somewhere else

@Likarnik
Got it, I don’t wear underwear anymore. -
@mikekoski490 can Suunto Smart Sensor send information to 2 bluetooth devices AT THE SAME TIME?? I was not aware of that!
H10 can handle 2BLE+1ANT in case you need it, and can be easily configure (you need to do every battery change) the configuration that you want via Polar Beat mobile app (at least in Android)
I’ve never used the Suunto band… I always use the H10

@suzzlo Hi. Sorry, I meant the Smart Sensor can attach to ‘either’ seamlessly, not simultaneously. For my indoor workouts I use the strap with the Hammerhead Karoo, and the wrist for the Suunto 9PP. But what I did find is the Suunto speed/cadence sensor weirdly sends a signal to both (?!) simultaneously. I use both because:
-
Suunto for the intervals I have set up in the Suunto app. For the Hammerhead, I must set up intervals through TP and I dont want to join another platform just for winter interval training.
-
I like the Suunto watchface that shows the little filled in circles for each day you train, but if I just use the Hammerhead, I dont get the circles!
-
-
@mikekoski490 ah, thanks… when I’m out with the bike I always use the Garmin Edge 580, but I want also want to have the TSS calculation in my watch and SA (without importing it) so I connect the Polar H10 to both devices (by ANT+ and Bluetooth) this is why I really love this strap
BR
-
@suzzlo hmmm…maybe I’ll get an H10 strap again then as my Hammerhead Karoo 2 can also do ANT+. Thanks!
-
@mikekoski490 the H10 can also do 2 BLE connections at the same time.
-
@Mff73 Well, it’s textile to TPU gluing, plus it requires elasticity. I’m personally not an expert, in fact, but I checked with someone who is and they gave me two suggestions:
Bostik Contact A3 and Loctite 480.
Reminder: not a professional of the topic, not have I tried. My smart sensor never had this issue in the past, and since I am not doing weight training in the last year or so I have been relying on OHR and not using it for a while.
