What is going on with Suunto?

Update 2.22.60 for Suunto 9 Peak Pro
New firmware Sony GNSS:
-Improvement in track and distance
-Fix lost GPS in tunnelsProbably tomorrow family S9/S9P/S9B and other of S5 and 3 I think
-
@inkognito It is a small update for the S9PP, but it probably had a lot of features already before that, so there was no need for anything big.
The S9P and other S9 have had their last update on March, so the update should be more significant.
Lets hope it comes on Thursday.

@Ketoohs Just be aware that significant updates often happen âunder the hoodâ. Like the changes that bring better possibilities of SuuntoPlus apps that are expected now. Sometimes people imagine âsignificant updatesâ like âbring us 5 new watchfaces, change all the menus and bring me at least 5 new functions that I will never useâ Those people are often disapointed
-
@omunoz itâs a small update for Suunto, but giant leap for tunnel running kind.
-
@inkognito more features for clicking the watch when bored and then whining that the battery life is shorter! This is essential!
-
@inkognito Yeah I am aware of that, and as you I donât need 1001 function that I will never use (In that case I would buy a Garmin).
What I would like the most is the new GUI, as I have problems sometimes with reading the data when I run faster. But I know that is not going to happen.

I thought this update was created to prevent this giant leap

Indeed, I donât think there will be surprises with next S3/S5/S9(not PP) update, literally everything in there has already been discussed here. It is mostly an âunder the hoodâ update to make S+ better, and lots of S+ are already available and coming (Strava segments, connection to not standardized sensors, Stryd metrics in real-time, new training functionalities).
The good news is that S+ can be released at any time after this update, and updated really fast in case of bugs. -
@isazi I have high expectations with the suunto 9 peak update. Opening or returning a âboxâ bought on Black Friday depends on that updateâŠ
-
@jjpaz what are your expectations? (simple curiosity)
-
@jjpaz well, what do you expect from this update? There is nothing you donât really know will be there honestly. The S9P will get what S9PP has, except for all the features (such as UI, power, depth measurements) that depend on newer hardware. If you donât like your watch now, you should not wait for updates to change it. If you like it already, the same.
-
@taziden Bug corrections and not new bugs inclusion, nothing special
In general Iâm satisfied with S9P. I have suffered several âlittle/mediumâ bugs (many have been commented here in the forum) so I hope they will be corrected and general watch performance will be improved. -
@isazi
(Obviously joking )
The update will update everything apart from the ones it doesnât . The same applies for the bugs -

@zhang965 So they get faster and stronger.

@Markus I am afraid Suunto is in dreamland when it comes to updating any of its watches. Some have been forgotten for nearly two fucking years!!! I mean itâŠâŠ I have a brand new replacement S7 sitting on the shelve gathering dust. Guess what, my daily driver is a Garmin instinct Solar. Where do I start itâs day and night when it comes to functionality, comfort, battery life, ABC, SpO2 and the restâŠ.
All I see here is topic after topic about the Peak pro. If Suunto treated older watches with some TLC I would have remained. Donât get me wrong I have praised the S7 many times on this form however, my lack of interest towards is purely driven by Suuntoâs non existing support and ignorance.
-
@BinoWorld-UK of course itâs a huge difference compared to a WearOS device. Not even mentioning the display. Could say the same comparing it with a Suunto 9 (which is older and has been getting updates).
Glad you found a watch you are happy with though.
-
@BinoWorld-UK
I wonder why you decided to get an S7 when youâre now happy with an instinct? they 2 completely different watches -
@freeheeler The only reason I got the S7 is the nice OLED screen and the companion app.
-
@BinoWorld-UK
ok, I see. it was a serious question, since my wife bought S7 without me knowing and recently I played a quiz with her. based on the result weâve ordered the pro for her
I still think S7 is a great watch, but users have to need/use the functions it offers to benefit from it over other watches
