Units as nmi and kts if it is metric
-
@dahab
on the watch you can always create your own sport mode and set units as you want -
@freeheeler Ok but how about an existing custom sport mode?
I cannot find unit settings for that -
@dahab
if you have your custom sport mode created in metric, it should remain metric (unless I’m wrong). the data that’s shown in SA was changed to nautical and since recently both units are displayed to serve both flavors.edit:
ok, it doesn’t show units, neither in the setup on the phone nor in the datafield in the watch… so I can’t say for 100% for now -
@freeheeler The watch has two fields for speed and two for distance
-
Speed: depending on the watch unit setting
-
Nautical speed: Speed in kts. Independent of the unit setting in the watch
-
Distance: depending on the watch unit setting
-
Nautical distance: Distance in nautical miles. Independent of the unit setting in the watch
The app shows both in the activity summary

@surfboomerang
I just checked and can not say that I undoubtedly see which is which… I also checked in custom sport mode.
I for one am missing units -
@freeheeler It depends on the field settings.
WIth 3 fields I see the unit behind the value. On a 5 field screen I only see the icons so I am unable to distinguish the difference. -
@surfboomerang
it would be cool to see the unit here
-
@freeheeler in this case it is not necessary, “Distance” and “Nautical distance” are different, and distance will be in km/h or m/h depending on settings.
-
@freeheeler Yes, but then the unit setting in the watch must be made available in the app.
The only fields in SA that show unit settings are vertical speed fields. But the fact that they are described as “m/h (ft/h)” indicates no unit information is synced from the watch to SA. It only indicates how vertical speed is measured -
@isazi said in Units as nmi and kts if it is metric:

And this

@surfboomerang
@isazi
maybe I miss something here… ml and cl are different, too, but in order to use the correct amount, I need to know the unit? -
@dahab
I’ve tried and I am confused now…
SA shows both units on the phone. but I can see only metric units on my custom sport mode (kitesurfing)
-
@freeheeler How is your custom profile configured?
-
@surfboomerang
there’s not so much to configure in terms of units
-
@freeheeler because Distance is metric/imperial. You need “Nautical distance” if you want nautical miles, as @surfboomerang said.
-
@isazi
I remember that default for watersports was changed once. then SA showed only natical units and my assumption was that the watch shows nautical only, too.sorry for this mess… I would appreciate if we could avoid this back and forth with stating the unit when setting up.
in basic kite mode the units are not visible, because it’s a 4 datafield screen. -
@isazi
nooow, I see!!
I was constantly overlooking it! sorry for that!!
