Suunto 9 Peak software update?
-
@thanasis we only mention that to keep the dialogue moving between users and Suunto, so users can keep track of which bugs are fixed and which not when new firmware comes. Suunto decides everything, they produce the watches.
-
@Stas-Varazhbit I practice multi sports and find those limitations too. If you practice duathlon a Suunto is not ideal. For triathlon their mode and selection for transitions is great but is short in management of the sensors and customisable screens. And the lack of drills in swimming is frustrating. But that’s the reality.
Once said that, the watch works really good and the data is really accurate. And for me I prefer to have instapace accurate rather other options.
For triathlons are others brands more specific but aren’t a Suunto. So is a personal choice.
We keep reporting the feedback but is not in our hands and we can not say what is coming or not, mostly because we don’t know, but I think there is a huge space for multisports improvement.

@Theo-Lakerveld For me a big improvement would be a better readability of the screen. I like to have 5 fields on my main screen when running and find it hard to see the data sometimes. I don’t know if S9PP solves that issue or if the screen is not good/big enough. I had no problem on my Spartan with that.
Other than that Running power would be great (but probably needs HW chanege) and some HRV metrics in SA, which I don’t know if the OHR on S9P is good enough.
As others pointed out my fear is that this is the last (major) FW update for S9P and they Suunto will focus on the S9PP and provide new functionalities to older watches trough S+ apps which have other limitations (only one per exercise), not fully integrated in SA,… Hopefully not as that would not be OK for a 1 year old flagship watch.
Lets see.

S+ apps are fully integrated in SA, and will be even more, including see the S+ values in graphs in the app (already possible in latest Android beta).

@Ketoohs
I am testing S9PP against my Spartan. And the same 7 fields screen on both watched seems to me more readable on smaller S9PP than on bigger SSU. Bold font is quite efficient. -
SW updates are important, because sport watches are not only the pure tools for sport, for me and many my friends it is just funny gadgets.
When this gadget regularly changing and became better with new SW features it is like get new one, and it is cool))
And also SW updates grow up loyalty to company - we bought expensive things and you support it 2 or 3 years, it is modern market reality. Impossible make a top gadget and forget about this after year, nobody will buy next gen after that. -

I lost my patience now -
@Kosta I wonder where did you learn that the S9P is not supported anymore, or that it has only been supported for one year (BTW it is almost one and a half year old already). You must be talking with some special sources, because as far as I have heard so far the S9P is still supported by Suunto.
-
There is a software update coming up and if all things went to plan that would have been already the case.
-
@isazi yep, I understand, it was just a common thoughts, not exactly about s9p or another Suunto watch, just about importance of SW updates in general:)
My main idea is that now we buy thing (any gadget and even car) not “as is”, but with hope, that will became better with time with new SW. -
@Kosta we all enjoy that journey, truth be said.
-
@Kosta I would prefer a snappy UI instead of new features.
-
@gi0vanni O, my main wish for this update is option for turn off some widgets, because I don’t use stress level and Daily HR=)
And HR monitoring is slowest widget on the way to alti/baro or weekly stat widgets. -
@Kosta I’m with you concerning turning on/off widgets.
-
@Kosta I agree. I had experience with the S9P but mine had some issues early on (it was a demo). I really appreciate that the S9PP widgets can not only be moved around to prioritize them in your scroll, but widgets can easily be taken off or put back.
-
@zhang965 but what do you mean, s9b got support for 4 years. I get that Spartans were only supported for 2 and that might have been too little for some, but 4 years is solid and it’s not over yet.

@DMytro
spartan was also a step down in battery life compared to A3P… I’ve looked at spartan back then but wasn’t convinced compared to A3P.
IMO spartan was the first step of Suunto into smart-isher watches and they learned and improved from it -
Here is my shopping list for the next update:
- Ability to set the NGP in the activity fields. without going through S+.
- A field on the navigation screen like HR, pace or another. This has been requested for a long time…
- S+ Sryd screen with heart rate in one field.
- Interval number on split sessions + better readability.
- Improved readability in general.
- Detection of the type of swimming for the swimming activity.
- Possibility to select the widgets we want to have in the watch. (Some of them don’t matter to us).
- Ability to put one or two S+ screens in a sports mode without having to do it on the watch every time we start an activity.
- Ability to do a daily HRV test and have it in SA.
- Automatic detection of thresholds (HR and power).
- Vibrations for split sessions when we leave the work zone.
Not sure if we will have all this in the update

It is already possible via SuuntoApp no ?
