how to pair a cadence sensor in suunto 7?
-
@Diogo with SportyGo. You will find the app in Google PlayStore.
-
@pilleus thanks
-
I’ve been looking and using Sporty Go requires the purchase of this feature.
Suunto 7 won’t let me connect to a cadence sensor directly?
What a big crap! -
@Diogo Ghostracer app can do it. I use it often for cycling. It has offline maps, barometric altitude, heart rate and external sensor support.
-
@Diogo The reason this was not implemented was to provide the best battery life. The low power mode of the S7 cannot be implemented with external sensors connected.
-
@Brad_Olwin It’s a shame they don’t give people the choice. You could have a toggle which enables external sensors with a warning that it will use more power. As it is now I don’t use the sports features at all because I can’t get a lock on my heart rate. Not using it gives even better battery life than low power mode!
-
I stopped using S7 completely and that improved battery life significantly - it lasts around 10 days now. So, they were right. Maybe they can strip down some more features in the future update.
-
@Brad_Olwin It’s a paradox that Suunto at the same time market the Suunto 7 with the words that you can listen to music without your phone while exercising. I am pretty sure that streaming music from the watch to a headset drains the same amount or more battery than a HR or cadence sensor.

@aeroild
and twice if you listen to music and the watch to your heart thru an external sensor -
@aeroild I agree that the choice would be preferable. I would rather have the choice too, using the S7 for intervals and asking for reliable HR from the wrist is not going to work.
