Full titanium black

@chris-conway sooo what do you think?
-
@krakra hasn’t been delivered yet, hopefully tomorrow though - I’ll be sure to post some pics and impressions etc when I get my hands on it.
-
As promised! Just received the watch, I’ve included some comparison shots to the S9P Ti (granite blue) model. Apologies if the photo’s aren’t the best - I am using my phone and trying to snap pictures in my office lol.
Anyways, in terms of initial impressions, the bracelet being the biggest change, it is extremely light - this really surprised me. Any other watches with a metal bracelet that I own are generally stainless steel and far heavier. Honestly when I swapped between my S9P with the silicon strap and the titanium one I barely noticed the difference. This is a huge positive for me as I always develop some sort of skin irritation when using silicon straps. So I will 100% be using the titanium bracelet full time, even during exercise (I use a chest HR strap so I don’t need to have the watch super tight on my wrist).
The coating on the bracelet appears to be the same as the one on the bezel of the watch etc, it’s a little difficult to tell 100% as the sides of the bezel are heavily brushed and the bracelet is not so the end finish is slightly different. I’ll update if I notice and scuff’s etc to the bezel vs the bracelet etc, but it feels great and has a nice matte look.
In terms of bracelet sizing, mine fit my 165CM wrist pretty much perfectly right out of the box, it does come with an additional 6 links (2 x sets of 3 w/ extra pins), so I’d say it will accommodate most wrist sizes.
One more curious quirk…. Since updating the software on my previous S9P (.30 update), the HR sensor would no longer read over my tattoo… this one is reading no problem and has had the latest update installed.

@chris-conway did you noticed any issue with glass position. Notice how glass is lifted on right side of watch compare to left on mine: https://imgur.com/a/QBYDwc2
-
@krakra Yes actually it is, maybe not as pronounced as yours but i can feel the difference when I run my finger nail over it. My original S9P was perfectly set. I dont think it effects the durability etc at all, hopefully its just a minor cosmetic issue.
-
@chris-conway any chance you take a pic please.
-
For me S9P is best watch and this issue won’t change anything. But I think an almost 1000€ watch in a titan case shouldn’t have this.
This issue and the noisy vibration are the things, which could be better.
Especially because it seems to be a kind of production variation.
Suunto’s built quality is usually and in all other aspects so outstanding. Nothing compares. -
@krakra sure, the camera on my phone is not great, but this kind of shows it, the left side is the raised area, that is where the ambient sensor is for reference. As I said it doesn’t appear to be anything too major, is annoying tho for sure.

@chris-conway
do you still have your original S9P and can you send comparing pictures? -
@chris-conway thank you. I am seeing similar or qual situation as on mine copy. My wife have steel version and it is perfectly aligned. I also had all black version which did not have issue. It looks like titanium versions have an issue or maybe it is just bad luck i think still in manufacturing tolerance. I saw some worst cases posted here in forum.
-
edit: had it also. got mine in service. have now a perfect aligned watch. Suunto Service is so fast and high quality! Awesome!!!
I think it is only visual and I would do it only if it is obvious. -
@mountainchris looks bad or maybe because of the picture angle
-
@mountainchris
was there a comment about it? -
@freeheeler no
-
@mountainchris
interesting… I assume you sent the watch in with a comment about the glass alignment and Suunto fixed it
I think they’re aware now and will take this point on the quality assurance listit’s good to give feedback in general, as it helps to constantly improve products. I have the impression that Suunto is open to such feedback and listens
-
@freeheeler i had to replace 3 copies and now i get perfectly assembled watch. At least on outside
-
@krakra
I am happy for both of you and I celebrate the fantastic service Suunto offers! -
@chris-conway
I have a wrist size of 185 mm. I guess that it won’t fit even with those extra links. Could you give me an idea of the total size of these extra links? Are they about 20 mm in total? -
@jochen-marquardt
specs say 125 up to 215mm… wouldn’t that fit? -
@jochen-marquardt so I just measured everything, the band w/o the extra links in is 135mm, each set of extra links is 25mm (2 sets so 50mm total), so you’re getting 185mm of band in total, plus the watch is around 45mm lug to lug.
Edit: so I would say it should definitely fit, once you factor in the watch itself.
