Received feedback from the support team. They tell me that the Peak Pro is no longer manufactured, nor that they have the parts to repair it. Not sure why they talk about parts, as to me, the issue had nothing to do with “mechanics” (but hey I’m not a techncian). Their position is “we can maybe fix it, but a cost that wouldn’t be relevant to you”, so instead, they offer to me a replacement with another device. With an incredible discount of 10€ !!! Quite interstingly, the Peak Pro is one of the models they’re offering in this deal of the century. Yes. The same model that is not manufactured anymore and for which they have no spare parts if there’s an issue. Just bought a new Sports2. But with a “I give these guys one last chance, before I move to G” approach, as I’m pretty pi**ed off, the failure happened after a failed update (according to me, but once again, I’m no Suunto technicain), 2 weeks after the warranty expired, and by the fact that the support is putting me in a position where I have no other option that to buy a new device. Aren’t they clamining they are a sustainable company? “Repairability” is the basis of being sustainable, especially for a device that was first realseased less than 3 years ago. Or is the image they want to give some sort of green-washing. Anyways…

@UweMt You are reading the manual for the 9 Peak but the watch you are showing is the 9 Peak Pro, which has a significantly different menu system. When the watch is paused, to see the time use the middle button to cycle to a data screen that has the time at the top. To see the battery level, either: press and hold the bottom button, which will take you directly to the control panel screen, which shows the charge %, or press the bottom button once and then select control panel from the menu, which then takes you to the same place. You can also do 1) to see the battery charge without pausing the recording. I don’t use autopause but this is how it works with the 9 Peak Pro after manually pausing, so I expect it’ll be the same in autopause.

@Shlomo-Sackstein Hi, so did you do anything to the watch in the end? I have similar experience with my S9P recently. Basically at first it had the same symptoms as yours, 50%-60% then suddenly prompt for recharge. Then I tried to calibrate the charge calculation by discharging (painfully as it keeps shutting down under 50%) it to near 0% then recharging to full. The percentage during daily usage became more consistent from 99% to 10% however the actually battery capacity was still quite low, and was degrading quickly, maybe only 20% of the original capacity. The watch is being sent to support for checking. (More updates: Support replaced battery two days later)

Had the same problems, and replaced the strap by a more breathable from Suunto. Still if I forget to loosen the watch after workouts and wear it all time I get skin irritation at the sensor area. Then I switch wrists at least during sleep. I don’t think its the sensor but the charging poles maybe they contain some irritating metals and in combination with sweat and pressure it irritats the skin. I haven’t been tested positiv on metal allergies but sometimes I have problems with metal buttons on trousers, sometimes not with the same button.

@maszop That’s not what I meant. If you look at the HR before the 40 minute mark you see an average of 100-something. After the 40 minute mark 80-something. One of them is incorrect. Especially the sudden drop shortly before the 40 minute mark is not possible. I have done an experiment a while ago with an Epix Pro, using an Coros HRM and the Race S, waking a walk. Neither of the watches was spot on. Have to look it up. But I guess I should start a new topic for this…

Thx for your suggestions but unfortunately they didn’t help. Here is what I did: Somehow the magnetic charging pod doesn’t connect properly. So I have to get the watch in the right position. I used a tiny, empty honey jar on top and two candles at both sides to stabilize. Than I moved the whole system around and back and forth until the charging icon appeared. Hands off and don’t touch for several hours. Et voila, the watch is fully charged again. Let’s see what kind of objects i have to use next time ;-).

Well, i must say “new” features mostly useless for us, they are for marketing and money profit to company. For us is better to take a laboratory vo2 test, it shows you what you need to train and show your correct hr and pace zones. As example of “new” feature which they sell was fused track to 9 peak, if you check right now at manual for 9 peak you cant find it. I like my 9 peak and i specially buy ti version when they appeared. After a couple of failures due to the mismatch of the suunto + (zonesense and box breathing) there are problems with the battery, I’m trying to solve it, but in Russia it is impossible to get service center support. I think that reliability should be at the top of everything, and then all the newfangled things.

@jjorgemoura, Other people can verify, but I believe this is a ‘feature’ of the custom battery mode to use the custom mode if there is any change to the default settings ( such as GPS quality, screen off in 10s, etc…). As a test, try starting a training in custom battery mode, with all the default settings, you can end|discard that training, then start a new training. If my hunch is correct, the battery mode should now use the Performance option.
