BUG: Run prediction and lactate threshold missing
-
I’ve had my race since it launched and still no run prediction or threshold data. Run 5 times a week around 100k all sorts of activities but have never had anything in these fields.
Am I doing something wrong!?
-
@Geoffwilli It only works if you use the internal OHR, not with external sensors.
-
@wmichi
Yeah that’s what I’ve been using. Frustrating as it seems a common issue. -

you only need 3 whr workouts to unlock it…
-
For me and my Suunto Race,
Works after 3 run with a Polar H10.
But with 10 minutes in zone 2 and 10 minutes in zone 3.
After that i can see my run prediction and lactate threshold.
-
@cjanevate I’ve probably done about 300 and still nothing
-
@Mi_chael I’ve completed all sorts of different running sessions and have done sessions within those zones for longer than the 10min you mentioned. As someone previously noted, it would be useful if Suunto outlined what was required and then it would be clear if there is an error with the software.
-
You’re right. It’s not clear at all.
But for sure. I run with a Polar H10 heart rate strap.
-
I’ve seen a few suggestions that you need to use wrist heart rate to get LT and Race Predictions
I tried a run with just wrist HR and it was so bad to start that I wouldn’t trust the predictions it might come up with and didn’t try more runs.
Any word on when this might be resolved? Would the calculations work using a Suunto Smart Belt?
-
@Ryan-Mullins As far as I know this will be solved in the next major update. Solved means that it will make predictions even if you use an external HR unit.
-
It seems I am too affected by this on the Race (weird enough it works on the Vertical). I’ve had the Race for 10 days now and run almost every day and while the Vo2Max is computed the treshold and the estimations are not. Of course I am always running with the H10 or Garmin Pro Plus (external HRs). Is this known that OHR should be used? If yes this will result in quite ‘unrealistic’ results since the OHR always locks on my cadence somethimes as high as 210 while my Max HR achieved with H10 / Garmin is 178.
-
@Marius-Jacobsen-Eggerud That would be terrific
-
@EzioAuditore yes, it has been written here by Suunto that you need to use OHR for now. Next major release will solve the issue according to Suunto.
-
@Marius-Jacobsen-Eggerud OK cool. Thanks.
-
@EzioAuditore it may be that you need only to unlock this one (i.e. run once with the OHR) and after you get the first value using the external monitor works. Should be fixed with new firmware.
-
@isazi thanks mate. I am in no rush to get the estimates but would like to know the LT with the Suunto. Will try and run my long run this Sunday with OHR though. Cheers and have a nice day.
-
@isazi didn’t work for me.
-
@EzioAuditore for the LT, better do the S+ test, the estimate from the Race does not work for me.

That’s my experience. I ran with OHR a couple of times to get an estimate. Last time I used a HR belt and got slightly different estimates, so it seems to work with the belt now.

@EzioAuditore managed to get an estimate yet? A fix should be released with the next update, that we are all patiently waiting for (and it should not be too far).
