After months of use the first major problem, the crown stops working in heavy cold and wind. The clickable buttons are ok. I’m a little sad about that.
I think only if you have significant moisture, I have used for SkiMo and running now several times and not had the crown stop working as cold as -10C.

Hello, everyone! I guess that I’m the luckiest owner:
- No option for switch specific app notifications. It’s a hell! On apple watch I’ve switch every annoying notifications (for example ebay), but here I can only switch notification completely! I guess it’s an API issue or something else, but hope that it will be fixed or at least explained.
Overall, I like this watch, looks good, works good and I hope they will be better!
Welcome and glad you like the watch!
With regards to notifications, just turn them off in servings on your iPhone. If they’re all the annoying ones you probably don’t want to see them on your phone either

In the Android app you are able to turn off specific notifications atleast. Thats not available on iPhone you mean?
-
@Iceman1 just disable in settings for each individual app you don’t need
-
@David-l I use android, and there is a feature for this in the Suunto app…
-
On IOs there is no such options : you can’t set notification app by app (for now ?)
-
@Tieutieu they said they wanted to disable notification so you would do that in iOS settings for each app, not via the Suunto app
-
@David-l OK, i think they mean to disable the notifications on the watch only, and keep them on the phone. Thats possible in suunto Android app, all Im saying.
-
@Tieutieu
in iOS there’s the option to control the notifications as follows:
app notifications
sms notifications
call notifications
they can be toggled individuallyin android you can toggle each app individually which requires to go to notification settings in SA for every new app you install.
the iOS solution is less customisable but fortunately exactly what I need: calls only -
@Brad_Olwin Yes, I confirm. Now I wear my watch more covered under my glove and it hasn’t happened again. It was just one awkward moment.
-
@freeheeler yep I perfectly have that in mind !
I don’t use notifications of any kind on my phone…so on my watch also.
But it would great for those who do that on IOs one could also choose app by app which notification to activate or not. -
I must admit that the method of charging the watch is a nuisance for me. I would prefer a clip because this stand does not work well if I charge the watch outside the desk.
-
@Brad_Olwin
Thank you! Now I can see the difference! -
@Iceman1
Well, you’re correct, I can turn off notifications on the Iphone settings, but the problem is, that I’d like to have them on the phone.
In Apple watch you have a list of app that allowed to send a notification, so you can deselect an app that you don’t want to bother you on your wrist. Some times it’s very useful.If you ask about Suunto native app on ios - No, on app you can only turn off all notifications on the Race, not a specific one.
Looks like the android app has permission due to flexibility of android or just a better integration. -
Yesterday, after a long run my watch refused to connect to a phone.
I was a bit afraid, but after a reboot of the watch the problem was solved.
Unfortunately, after reboot, my step and calories counter was not reset after midnight. BTW, reboot was before midnight.I was using my Suunto Race for about a two weeks without reboot (charged a few times) and I’m not sure that next time the date will be accurate… Hope that today the step/calories counter will be reseted and everything will be ok.

@buttercup_alex
for iphone you can toggle notifications individually for calls, text messages (sms) or app notifications in general.
it would be nice to do it the same way like in android.
I used to have android and changed to iOS. -
@buttercup_alex I believe that at the time the notifications part of the app was designed and implemented iOS did not allow that, but it seems that is now possible. Hopefully Suunto App will be updated to take advantage of this.
-
@buttercup_alex If you are on iOS before you reboot check the BT list in the phone. Sometimes the watch does not reconnect immediately. If disconnected tap the watch in the BT list to reconnect, it should then sync.

Have been using the Race daily for a little over a month now and remain deeply impressed with nearly* ever facet of the watch. Multiple alarms (finally!), flashlight, pinable widgets, and adjustable indoor rowing distance are all superb additions. Great job, Suunto!
*Things that aren’t quite so impressive:
- No longer made in Finland. I know that helps keep the cost down but still makes me a touch sentimentally saddened.
- Watch bezel seems a bit cheap on the titanium model. Coming from the 9 Peak, the smooth titanium bezel seems replaced with…plastic. Again, probably cost, but still.
- Even on the lowest setting, the display remains blindingly bright.
- Missing a better selection of analog watch faces, especially those boxed in red…
-
All,
I’m a new (happy) owner of the Suunto Race.
After many years using Suunto products (Ambit, Spartan Ultra and also Eon Core), I’m pretty happy with this new watch.After only 2 days using it, here are my rough “pros and cons” :
PROS
- Design and finish of the product (Sunnto Race Midnight)
- AMOLED screen
- Map during the activity (only tested during a trail run)
- All the Suunto environment and metrics I’m familiar with
- HR measurement on the wrist
- New wristband (compared to my “old” Spartan Ultra one) really great and comfortable
CONS
- Known issue of not sync correctly the TSB/CTL with the app
- Limited choices of “watch faces” and/or possibility to personalize (e.g display the HR on the watch face)
- During an activity, not possible to display some key information in the map screen (e.g HR, altitude)
- Pinning several widgets (maybe 2-3) could be great
- Filter/block some notifications during the activity
That’s a very first and early feedback. But really happy for the moment.
