New owner of Suunto Race - first feelings
-
@Edoardo-Coppolillo I have no experience with the Race on a Race, but as others have already answered, it seems to work ️
-
@freeheeler if you have a planned route, it stays on the map page, and not breadcrumb page, whilst running. Or at least it did for me on Sunday.
Have to say, the route planning worked well except for when I wanted to change the data screen, and then it seems to want to tell me to go right rather than left. It did sort itself out, but would have been a bit disconcerting had I not know the route we were running.

@Jonathan-C Don’t know it was a gift from an employee.
-
@BrunoH that’s some dedication
I settled for the white and love it better than the original one, Suunto should make these standard issue! -
@Brad_Olwin Hi there, may I ask you where did you buy all that stuff??? I’m jealous Thanks!
-
Until now I’m happy with Race.
Pros:
- weight feeling;
- Digital Crown very responsive;
- amoled screen (contrast, maps are in another level);
- HR seems less erratic than vertical (different fw?);
- battery it’s enough (43h);
- great UI, simple to find things;
just 2 simple things to add:
- more watchfaces;
- in maps with routes a field to show how many km to reach endpoint.

Hi there, I’m a new user of the race. Loving it so far.
Does anyone know how or where the Vo2 max is found after activity? -
Last Saturday: with 100% battery the watch gives me 45h of dual band. During 4 h 13 min, 20 km hiking the watch consumed 8% battery. For the same move my 7XSS (MIP screen) lost 13%. -

@Santana-Hakuba-Kikstra scroll down to CTL, enter that and it should be the one below
-
does the Race have the default wachface of the 9Peak?
i mean this one -
@thanasis yes, it does
-
@Mads-Hintz-Madsen thanks!
-
@thanasis it has been refined and is looking slightly different though
-
@Egika Unfortunately we didn’t get it on the vertical…
-
I miss solstice from s7, and heat maps. I wonder if they would look good on SR.
-
@Egika thank you for that. I feel the previous version looked a bit better
-
@wmichi i have the same problem on my SR with Sleep detection … it thinks i have slept only 2hrs somedays and 3`4hr the other days!
-
Hello,someone have a news about firmware update for suunto race?
-
@paranoidrunner I have the SR now for little bit over three weeks. In the first week sleep tracking was completely off every night, same as for you. But starting in the second week it got better and better. In the last two weeks the performance of the algorithm was about the same, as I have seen with other watches in the past. Sometimes it’s a bit off, but most of the time awake times look pretty good. I cannot say anything about light/deep/rem. For me those are just gimmicks which cannot be measured properly on the wrist.
During this time, the only things I have changed was activating blood oxygen measurements during the night and I am using a nylon band now (the one from the Coros Pace 3). And I have updated my resting hr to my real resting hr. On other Suuntps I had a fantasy value there to make resources work. But according to Suunto resting HR has no longer an impact on sleep or resources.
