GPS lost after tunnel
-
@taziden My S9B also had similar problem recently. I’ll find my post and leave a link here.
At that time, I thought it was a bad luck happens just one time. -
@taziden Here is my previous post.
The most strange thing is that the signal was lost and then found again exactly at the same point.https://forum.suunto.com/topic/8185/route-recording-on-the-map-is-imperfect
-
Under investigation by both Suunto and Sony at the moment.
-
Maybe a disturbance in the Force
I’ve got some strange tracks last week too, and no Sony chip here. -
We are testing a fix for the tunnel issue, it seems to be working so far, should get much better with next update.
-
@isazi If needed I can also test it quite easily. The tunnel I had trouble with is 500m away from my house.
(No, I’m not trying to sneak in the beta field-testing program :p) -
@isazi also for Sx ‘non-pro’?
-
@halajos this is a fix only for S9PP.
-
@isazi thanks, hopefully the in-tunnel distance double-counting fix will come to all devices.
-
@halajos that is a different issue, discussed in a different topic, and for that one a fix should come to all devices.
-
@isazi in this firmware coming ‘soon’? Because this issue (double distance) is gonna be 2years old in april
-
@taziden interesting, had the same issue after a short tunnel here
-
Same for me with yesterday’s run. Hopefully the new firmware will fix this issue I didn’t had with my S9P.
-
@v-sacre yes, this is exactly being addressed by the fix currently under test
-
Hopefully this has been identified and is fixed. Hold on.
-
Same here (Suunto 9 peak pro). GPS froze under a bridge (about 20m), then track was lost for 8km. The weird thing is that it still recorded the distance for the whole run, but the gps track is stuck under that bridge.
-
@Cooky yes the watch relies on other sensors to fill in pace, distance, etc. A fix for this is coming, maybe sooner than expected.

@isazi said in GPS lost after tunnel:

Any update on the fix release ?
This bug is quite annoying.
Even if I have correct data coming from Stryd, my gps data of my last run is reduced of more than half of the true track…GPS lost after a first tunnel and got back the signal after a second tunnel at the end of the run (about 20-30 minutes later).
-
@v-sacre I believe it should be this month, but it is not up to me to decide, I am just a user like you.
-
I am suffering from the same problem which is reproducible. However, last time I had the breadcrumb navigation active and the GPS signal was not lost.
In the short tunnel, the symbol in the center of the navigation screen indicated a loss of the GPS signal, after the tunnel the signal was right back. The track in Suunto app was correct.
