Firmware 2.20.28 Battery drain
-
The only case that battery consumption could be higher is if you are not wearing the watch and you have sleep tracking on.
That is because the watch is trying to check if it’s on wrist , and lights up a little the ohr lights with Minimal consumption.
So check if you have sleep tracking on for those that like to leave the watch at home etc.

I confirm a much shorter working time on a single charge. Sleep tracking on

is this commonly known battery recalibration thing after updates history or still valid?
shouldn’t we still judge the drain after emptying completely, recharging and soft resetting? -
@freeheeler correct
-
@dirk-münster I just tested this with one S9P on wrist and one on the desk all night. On wrist from 99% to 91% and on the desk from 99% to 97%. I would definitely try a battery recalibration. This does not seem an issue from my tests. I will keep this running for a bit.

I did a hard reset. I think it helped. 4% at night on a table with sleep monitoring.
The ability to back up the watch settings is very much needed! -
There was a new update “2.20.30”. Maybe the issue is already fixed No info about what’s new with this update on the official web page.

@simon info is in the forum
-
@simon
the changes don’t specifically describe the drain as I see it…

Ahh, very cool! Thanks! Didn’t know all the details were here. Nice

Hi,
I have the same issue with 2.20.30
Not sure if it was related to me not wearing the watch, but before the firmware update I could wear it for more than a week, then I noticed that it lost more than 30% in one day without any activity at all from my side. I don’t have sleep tracking enabled.
I have noted down the battery level for today and will see how it evolves over the next days and report back.
Will this be fixed in a new firmware?
Thanks -
@thibaut
did you empty the battery, fully charge the watch and then do a 12s soft reset? -
Just as a reminder, a couple of days after the last firmware update my S9B got stuck on a black screen, and I had to soft reset it. Not a problem at all (it hasn’t resurfaced) but after the soft reset I experienced tremendous battery drain during the day, but none during night, and also non in battery saving mode (when the watch is on its last %) . Turned out that somehow (probably when I was trying to solve the black screen issue) illumination was set to always on. Sometimes the solution is rather obvious, duh.

big battery drain until 2.20.30 (running 2h with 14% battery down) and no more WHR (because tattooed on both wrists)… unbelievable disaster work in 2022 from suunto.
-
@set_218
but did it become better with 2.20.30? -
@set_218 Sorry, I can’t confirm.
1 week since last charge, with 4 hrs of windsurfing and 3 hrs of running, and the watch is down to 51%
-
@surfboomerang
similar here… no wind, no surfin… but battery in a 3 year old watch is within reason -
I did not yet do the soft reset. I will do when it reaches 0% then and I charge it to the 100%.
Also the backlight is turned off.I did go running this afternoon and the battery dropped down 10% for a 1:38 run. I never really paid attention before how much energy a run would take, but it feels much higher than before.
-
no. also with the 2.20.30 update the battery status is a disaster. like the first big update years ago on the spartan series.
load the S9P on 99% yesterday 5pm. no sports or activity. just wearing it 24/7 with whr + sleep counter. Now -> 86%

@set_218
and did you empty the battery, fully charge the watch and then do a 12s soft reset?
