Turn by turn doesnt work
-
Hi all. Not sure this adds much to the discussion but I’m also having the same issue with my S7.
I purchased several years ago and tbt worked fine at first. However, this spring it suddenly stopped. I’m creating routes in Komoot, importing them to the Suunto app, and sending to the watch ensuring that tbt is toggled on. The waypoints appear on the app, but once uploaded to my watch they disappear and the route is just a Point A to Point B breadcrumb. I can follow along if I’m constantly checking my screen but that’s silly and drains the battery with the screen constantly turning on.
I also contacted Suunto support to inquire, send logs, etc and was similarly told after waiting more than a month to try a factory reset - which I tried several times already.
Hopefully a solution comes soon as the watch is effectively useless to me now. -
Got a second email from support advising me to delete and reinstall SA…can you imagine this after 3 months of waiting for a decent solution??
Of course no result, …still no tbt 20m before a deviation. Tried already everything, importing routes via komoot and plotaroute into SA, nothing changes.
Suunto support’s only reaction is to thank me for my patience and they are treating the issue with priority, apparantly unable to trace the bug.
Keep you informed about the outcome. Regards!! -

Now they start pointing to komoot as if the fault is with them, just uncapable of coming up with sth useful. They seem to be just a bunch of nitwits, the only thing they come up with is a reset or reinstall, thats more or less it. Anyone having the same issue using komoot(world package unlocked) synchronised with Suunto and not receiving tbt some 20m before the actual turn coming up??? I wish you luck contacting support…🥸🥸you kind a always get someone else using the chat, not knowing about the exact problem and history of (not)solving it…never again suunto for me.

And have you tried reaching out komoot? Just to see what do they say? What about routes the come from another 3rd party?
-
Komoot confirms me that nothing changed in their software and using a komoot route on the phone it works indeed perfectly, nicely giving all the tbt warnings as usual. I recently bought me a polar grit x also synchronised with komoot, same route, and working as it has to be, giving all the tbt information exactly as komoot does. Resuming the suunto “support” department still being uncapable resolving this thing now for 5 months…
Just today received another email from SS giving me the following “solution”…you probably can guess the outcome of it….
Greetings and thank you for your patience.
****Please perform the below in the order provided:
- Re-install iOS app and restart phone
- Sync the watch.
- Un-toggle ‘use in watch’ in all of the routes in the Suunto app.
- Sync the watch again.
- Toggle back ‘use in watch’.
- Sync the watch.
This should fix the issue but of course if the situation persists, you are more than welcome to reach out again.
Best regards,
Suunto Support**** -
@Marco-4 I am also not getting a notification 20m before the turn.
I get the notification of the next turn if it is far away right after I went around the last one.
Like: “straight in 867m”then some distance before the actual turn (not sure if it is 100m) I get it again.
No 20mIs the 20m stated in the manual?
-
@Marco-4 I just checked the manual.
Can you check if your watch does not what is described here:
-
Hi,
Indeed I have just the same way of behaviour as on your watch. I found out that there has to be a tbt 20m before a turn watching a youtube video from gerald zhang schmidt (look for navigation with komoot tbt directions on the suunto 9). You can clearly see the notification around 20m before imediately followed by the info for the next one. So the 20m warning is simply being skipped, sth HAS to be wrong, for sure some kind of bug.
Hopefully within the next update it will be solved, but after my recent contacts with support I doubt it seriously. Fingers crossed. -
@Marco-4 sorry, a video taken by someone probably even on some beta firmware is nothing to rely on feature wise.
I am using tbt a lot (mainly because I forget to switch if off) and it’s always like we both seem to experience it.
Suunto themselves nowhere claim a 20m announcement. So nothing to bother customer support with, which obviously is thinking you are getting no notifications at all. -
Sorry but Support is exactly aware of my issue, and from minute one they have never denied having to receive an ultimate tbt 20m before…if they after all this time and requests from my part should be thinking that I do not get any tbt whatsoever, then they are even more stupid then I could even think of.
-
@Marco-4 I still find this strange, that support is following up a functional claim, Suunto has probably never made…
I guess the forum can not do anything more in this case…
-
I guess I have to wait for the next message support will send, meanwhile I just received this one, proof that they know exactly what my issue is….
Hello,
We appreciate your patience and valuable feedback. We apologize for the delayed response.
Thank you for telling me how it went after trying and that the issue remains when you created a new route so you need to do the same steps all over again.
I will forward your issue and feedback on this to our department in order to investigate further and I will email you as soon as I have further updates on this.
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. We remain at your disposal.
Thank you for your understanding and for your patience. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We are more than happy to help.

@Marco-4 yeah, this is not exactly a proof that they are aware that some reviewer showcased a 20m alert.
I read this as polite text blocks that are sent out if a customer has a still unresolved case. -
Hi,
Hereby one more link with a very clear showing of correct tbt on suunto 7 and suunto 9.
If I would have been mistaken, I imagin I would already have received information about it after 5 months from support…unless they are not aware of the specifications of their products.https://youtu.be/6s0uhP61lms?si=r3VjWPOjxSuDX8YF
Cheers. Marc.

@Marco-4 Any update on this issue?
