@Egika if the watch does not show a new update tap to check again and again…

Let the tapping of the “System updates” button begin!
so what’s that tapping-thing about? Read about it before but thought it was just some tech voodoo.
ThxIt’s the irrational belief that we will get the update quicker if we repeatably press the “System updates” button in settings on the watch. I’m pretty sure that’s not how a staged rollout works though

There is a trick to force the update (if available) though
P.S. search the forum

Just found the post, didn’t work for me though
-
@Aleksander-Helgaker may not work immediately because the update is announced but not always readily available everywhere. Will probably work in a few hours. It usually does for me.
-
@isazi ooh, fun. I’ve injured my foot (idiot that I am), but I’ll go for a walk this evening to test changes to navigation if I manage to get it

So this update brings us “only” navigation updates and a fix for a crashing wear app.
Many of us expected support for external HR sensors, autopause, multiple tiles, even sleep tracking…Is it still to come or will it stay on our wishlist ?
Don’t get me wrong, this update with guidance arrows on screen is superb, but maybe we expected a bit more…

Was it ever implied that any of those things were being actively worked on? I agree I’d like to se these things, but I don’t think anyone stated they were actually coming.
-
Also, lately Suunto is doing something like “one big update, one small update” cycles. Probably we’ll see the big updates in the next one.
-
@iTomB this update was due sometime ago.
Not sure for external sensors. Ain’t the audience of s7 atm. I would not bet on that. At least not soon enough.
And yes typically suunto goes with feature \ fix feature issues \ feature
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I agree as I don’t think external sensors are ever coming to the 7. As you said Suunto has made the choice that it’s not their audience. I think it’s the wrong choice and I think their recent price drop for the watch signifies they don’t really know the audience and are just trying to move units. It’s a real shame because a wear os watch with the regular Suunto to app built in (sensor support, intervals, and even Suuntoplus) would make it the only legitimate smart watch plus performance watch on the market. DCRainmaker has been right in saying Suunto has just lost their way.
-
very poor update. Will we have to wait another 3 months for something else?
Very disappointed. -
@brotzfrog10
what do you mean? Is Suunto heading into nowhere?
Because some people say Suunto became too much appleish and now I read that you have the feeling that Suunto might give up their appleishness already again? -
@brotzfrog10 the s7 is in full development by not only suunto. And that is a good thing.
This update fyi should have gone out something like start oct but a low level hardware issue that took 2 companies to solve stalled in
In the meantime other stuff are cooked.
It has been mentioned with some extra details what I said here.
Enjoy your watch, it’s going to get better.
Ps. The update could also have not arrived , and all be packed in the next update. But we decided to fix the issue that some users encountered and resulted in the watch crashing. We have discussed and reported this here.
-
@iTomB - pretty much agree with you. Suunto need to issue these to keep up with the competition and ensure that differentiation is there.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos - fully understand that, and if that is the case OK, but Suunto should formally release that as part of the update that this is just a fix, delayed due to the issue; and that the next update will include x,y & z and assuming no further issues is expected to drop within xx months.
There are people in market looking at full smart watches - apple watch / ticwatch pro 3 and at fitness watches like the Garmin Venu / Garmin Vivoactive series and wondering if the suunto 7 is worth the price. Knowing future feature updates and timelines can go a long way to aiding people to pull that trigger (and yes I want more people to buy - the more people who buy the more likely suunto is to throw future resources and to continue to improve the product and possibly ensure future better units).
-
We learned many times (even with this very post) that milestones and promises don’t work.
Even worse, while nothing was promised still with this update some people expected many things.
And it’s ok. That’s the strategy suunto follows , Google follows , Garmin follows , apple follows.
Still we are testers here that give hints and explain. Other companies don’t do that. And we do risk a (in a manner of speaking 50k ) nda price with every little word we say. I think so far we are doing well right ?
I don’t say this to make us testers heros , but perhaps this explains how tight things are.

No doubt greatly appreciated by those affected!
