Ambit 2 and .... yes - WHAT?
-
@zvonejan Yes, I know, and cable sync is OK for me. But that was not the question…
-
@johann-fuehrer Since you are aware of all the changes regarding Movescount, we don’t have more information to tell you. We only have those official annoucement on the Suunto website, just like you guys.
-
@jthomi It’s waste of time to tell someone not to know more than he already does, but thank you for wasting this time for me!
-
@johann-fuehrer Waste of time sounds so harsh.
-
@jthomi I’v tried to remove the sharp edges of it this with the

@johann-fuehrer Yes, you were successful!

@johann-fuehrer said in Ambit 2 and .... yes - WHAT?:
And what is the place supposed to configure the Watch now? Still Movescount Webservice? For how long?
Just thinking out loud here: if there would be a link in Suunto App directing to watch settings at MC web (or whatever it will be called) , would Ambit & Ambit2 owners consider this as a progress? Compared to adding a direct link to www.movescount.com/gear/ manually to phone’s home screen, it would save about 1-2 taps/gestures per watch configuration sessions but would perhaps deliver a tiny bit more fluent user experience.
In other words, if for whatever reason you prefer to make those changes with your phone, just bookmark Movescount settings page on your phone’s browser right now and add it next to Suunto App icon
-
@margusl what’s the point if there is no bluetooth syncing of those settings? You will still need laptop and cable. Totally ridiculous to kill this, but oh well…
-
@Prenj , this topic is about Ambit2, so it’s all about bluetoothless to begin with. Would a config link to my original Ambit Black make a better point? I can also rename my link on my phone to My2ndAmbit if “3” in there somehow ruins your day
-
@margusl sure would make more sense if you are not talking about ambit3
Anyway, my point still stands. No point for doing this on small screen when you will still have to sync it using your computer.
-
Guys!! It’s not Bluetooth which is my problem! I’ts that I cannot even do anything in the app for the Ambit2 even I would sync later via cable! And I do not know where I sould do the settings so that I can sync later, no matter how!
Short: Ambit2 is great, best GPS besides V800 (dis another test last weekend, where Vantage V failed gloriously in Storm and ice whereas A2 held me on track!). What do I need to configure/manage it after Movescount is down?

It will not go down, at least not in next months and probably not in next few years. It will probably morph into something bit different and loose everything related to activity analysis and overview, but all those latest updates are mostly about that - Movescount (or whatever it will be called) web interface is THE interface for accessing settings for whole Ambit line.
-
@johann-fuehrer
you need SA to sync your activities to a useful 3rd party desktop service
so the process is: do something that makes you happy and THEN, connect the cable, sync thru the cable anywhere that loads it to SA and from SA you can connect e.g. to QS or Strava -
@TELE-HO you forgot mention one very important thing. One needs to have a phone that supports Suunto App in order to be able to connect the third party service like Strava, e.t.c.
-
Suunto created such a mess. So many people understood that movescount will be completely shut down and that’s it. Who knows how many have moved along and bought some other brand watch.
-
@petmic
doesn’t that come with the cable? -
@johann-fuehrer as @margusl and others already said MC is going to stay exactly for what you need, configure your watch and send routes, etc.
-
I guess many people, as me , understand this badly.
Suunto app, for ambit 1 and 2 will just be to Analyse the activities .
Then you need a computer with suunto link to sync them. And as far as I understood, to change settings on the watch you still do it on movescount web.
So why suunto release the suunto link for older watches ? To provide a sync to suunto app.
Guess it is that . -
Yes. My guess is that Suunto is buying time with this delaying and partly solutions. Ambit times are forgotten for them, face it, ambits are old
