Duplicate moves after Movescount import
-
@borgelkranz perhaps try the ST web ?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I’ll give it a try. Hopefully they have a bulk delete…
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos It is as I feared. They do not have a bulk delete. They “advise” the following:
To remove duplicates:
Suunto app: Open the move, tap on Edit in the upper right corner, tap Delete workout.
Sports Tracker: Open the workout, tap on Edit in the upper right corner, tap Delete workout.Serious? That are two to three clicks per move. So for 823 moves that are at least 1646 clicks. What did Camus say: “We must imagine Sisyphus as happy”…
Or according to the German Binse: “There is no use crying about spilt milk…”
Luckily I have a job and three kids and can think of better ways to spend my time.
Thanks for the help though!

@borgelkranz By using the ST WEb I would :
- Open each dup in a new tab
- Go to each tab and delete that one
-
I had some duplicates too, only on activities that were both synced to MC and SA and where I had added some pictures on the SA side…
Beware when you open activities in new tabs to delete, becaus after deletion, the closest activity is displayed, which you might end up deleting as well (happened to me once)… -
@martin Thanks for the advice. I already found that out the hard way… Additionally, I found that it was really difficult to decide, which move to delete. That’s why I removed every move and plan to re-import from Movescount once @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos paved the way to repeat the history import from MC.
Most of the duplicates differed in description or cadence. It somehow felt systematic but on further inspection didn’t seem to be so…
-
Same here. All moves with pictures addded in SA have been duplicated.
It would have been nice if there was an algorithm checking the starting and ending time of the move and then disregard it… -
@Egika that is what is happening. However did you modify anything or use some sync software?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
For each of the activities that I had added photos to in SA, the equivalent MC move was imported.
Neither were modified, except the addition of pics in SA.
Fortunately I don’t have that much moves with pics added, and there is a calendar view in ST (web), that allows to see easily the days with multiple same sport activities. At that level, nothing beats a big screen (web interface is definitely compulsory !). -
Dio you have links for me ?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
Unfortunately I spent sometime yesterday removing all the duplicates… so none left… there probably was between 20 and 30 in my case. If useful I can direct you to SA/ST ones and MC equivalent, though everything being private you might no be able to see anything ? -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
No extra software. Just synced activities to both MC and SA for some time.
Example:

@Egika Out of curiosity I had a look and noticed that some of the data is different too. Duration, Ascent, Descent and Max.Speed differ, don’t they?
-
There should be a way to select up to what date you want to import the moves from MC. This way, if you have continuously imported moves into SA from that certain date, no duplicates would happen.
-
@borgelkranz Yes, this is strange enough. As the only thing I have done is sync the same move first to MC and then to SA.
No idea why it would come up with different data… -
@Egika Some old version? Beta? You ve been here quite since start…
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos yes. Possibly…
I have already started deleting some duplicates on top of the list. So can’t look them up anymore and only older ones are left… -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I again received an email stating that history import from movescount is complete. However, the number of activities still does not match. For example all of the 180 moves from 2017 aren’t there. I really begin to lose faith… I contacted support and they want to come back to me via e-mail…
-
@borgelkranz can you logout and login to the app? or chec ST web ?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Logged out and back in. Same state. Also in ST-Web, the activities are missing. For 2017, seven activities are present. But in Movescount there are 180.
