les for those settings (touch + gps etc)
I use a custom one that I enable full color (dont need those extraSo much to this watch - I have always used the standard Battery Profiles. Just had a look now and Custom Profile is just what is needed. Brilliant!

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
good point with the recording interval… I’ve had my settings always at 10s instead of 1s for the simple reason that I think that it shows more precise results for my specific activities… e.g. when you’re on a skitour and you’re skinning a steep section your hand might do motions from your knee until well above the head… if the barometer records every second I assume the result of total ascent is more than the actual total ascent. Your hand will make more meters than you do…or am I wrong and I misunderstood this?
-
@TELE-HO well there is a barometer filter to filter our those small movements. So the ups/downs are recorded (even less than 1m) but the ascent does not increase if there is not linear change up to 3m.
So if I swing my arm (-+1m) all the time it will record and show these small changes on the chart but my ascent/descent will be 0.
If I had an arm of 3m then the swings would have counted.
IMO the 10s recording has one usage: If you want best accuracy on the S9 and you want to rechange with a powerbank. For example running with Best more than 40h. Then the watch wont have at a point the capacity to store all that data (and they are a LOOOOT). To be specific here, apart from the data you see, or is available to you, these watches do record also raw values such as ABS pressure, number of satelites, Satelite 5 best snr, EPVE , EHPE etc. Those on 1s for >40h are big files.
Hope it helps a bit what I said. I am not arguing that the recording interval is not a good thing to have, but rather it’s use case is becoming a bit too specific.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
Ok thank you, that’s good information!
I agree it’s not necessary to leave all types of settings up to the user. When it becomes too deep into detail sometimes users (including me) don’t see the full picture and setup maybe something they don’t want.
It good when some basic settings are done by the actual product developers. -
repeating myself:
in Triathlon mode there is no way setting this per sports mode. Also I have no idea how Suunto in planning to fit all this into the watch UI…
plus: where has the touchscreen on/off gone?
-
@Egika I dont know that

-
@malcyway

My Spartan Ultra has no Battery Mode in the Options…

@Egika
There is not such option (touchscreen) for Spartans.
It should be added in one of the next fw update afair.Probably will be found under energy saving.

@sartoric ugh, I guess they should of called it the Suunto 9 Alti… instead of the Suunto 9 Baro. The Barometer feature is tucked so far underneath everything it’s almost non existent. Just seems a bit odd considering. Tho I do think the S9 is a good product, this lacking feature atm is annoying. Hopefully we will see the baro readings/graph be brought forward for us athletes that use it on the regular in our daily activities. When sailing or hiking my first go to is obviously looking up and feeling the weather but during a activity it’s helpful to reference back to the watch and see what’s trending with the pressure, especially when at sea level for long periods of time.
Patience and calmness has kept me safe and level headed in my sailing career I will use this super power to wait for a baro update

If I remember well there should be a thread in the feature suggestion area about barometer. Try to search it.
Consider that you can check altimetric graph during activities and there’s a specific storm alarm that can be enabled, so barometer is somehow available.
-
Well… You’re a sailor, so altimetric graph isn’t probably very helpful
-
@sartoric true true mahalo, I’ll do some searching. Wonder tho of altimeter graph shows baro reading as well as a work around. I’ll check it out.

Well, the altitude graph during activity shows only the last 5 minutes so I am not sure that is useful for anything. I don’t know what Suunto was thinking when adding this feature.
