9PP Appreciation in 2026 / Things to fix before it's orphaned
-
How unfortunate that with the latest and last firmware, heart rate measurement stopping has become so much more frequent. Before it was extremely rare, at least for me but now it seems like it’s a weekly occurrence.

I did indeed receive my Race S watch, and my old watch charges perfectly with the new cable, so I haven’t tested the new watch yet and I’m returning it now. Buy a new $70 cable is beyond reasonable in my opinion for a watch that’s barely 3 years old, and I absolutely don’t want to send my watch to the company and fight to avoid paying for the repair. So I went around my principles this time and ordered a cable from Amazon which works perfectly. My near vision requires a larger screen, so I haven’t chosen my next watch yet… To be continued…
-
I have to say I kinda overlooked the Race S a little, but since it’s out there now quite some time, it may be better to still wait for newer models maybe at the end of year.
Battery runtime with my S9PP also an issue, charged it yesterday morning before leaving the day, then 24hrs later without any usage of the watch only 24/7 HR measurement, I lost 25% of battery life. Now, with a 30 minute bike ride, and a 40 minute dog walk, I am at 45%, which really is a bummer.
-
Just to note that somehow my watch has become afflicted with phantom vibrations over the past week, notably nowhere near BT devices aside from my phone. So I wonder if it’s correlated to the SA connection dropouts Android is experiencing or just symptomatic of a longer 9PP issue.

@Łukasz-Szmigiel good to know

Looks like the titanium version is no longer available, at least in my region (USA). We’re down to just the All Black.
I briefly had the Forest Green model, but returned it as I found the textile strap to be a bit uncomfortable for the price at the time. Kinda wished I would have help onto it now as it’s become quite rare. A green Suunto made in Finland… probably won’t ever see that again.

@Łukasz-Szmigiel Has anyone found a way to stop or reduce them?
I Have been trying to follow on the forum but it seems most people say we just have to tolerate it… I have tried resetting the watch etc.

@Greennorth it’s up to Suunto to decide to issue a firmware fix, or not.

Stay away from magnetic items. That’s about all you can do at the moment. There is a slim chance that Suunto may address the underlying software issue (disabling the vibration notification when the compass auto-calibrates) if they decide it’s a “clear watch bug” as indicated above by @Egika. Keep your fingers crossed.
