Downgrade FW
-
I “succeeded” in deleting the packages with older SW on my SV 2 watch. But now I need to pair the watch with a new device and when I reset the watch, it is not deleted and I cannot connect it. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you.
-
@Martin-Vrska Do you mean you removed all the OTA packages from the watch in the hidden DEBUG menu? As far as I understand it you‘ll need at least one to restore the watch to the original state/hard reset it
-
@ChrisA There’s only the current one, but when I click on it, the watch goes back to the previous screen. It seems like I can’t help myself, right?
-
@Martin-Vrska I don’t really know if there needs to be at least one, which is considered the one the watch boots with when a hard reset is performed. They have numbers and labels like “1 normal ” or “0 current” and maybe there need to be a “normal” one?
I personally really don’t touch those (or even open this menu), since you can wipe all OTAs with the press of a button. A friend of mine did this accidentally and called me because he knew I had a Suunto too and it turned out he had to send his watch in for service then to get it restored. I would contact Support - perhaps they can help?! -

That’s the one labeled “1 normal” in my Race 1 (just looked it up, being extra cautious, not to press something wrong here
) -
-
@ChrisA Under which item can I see this, please?
-
@Martin-Vrska It’s in a hidden debug menu. I strongly advice not to go there unless told to by Suunto support (I don’t touch it) There are posts here in the forum how to get there. Be careful you can delete all OTAs ther just by clicking (without further confirmation)
-
@ChrisA Well, I already know that - unfortunately. I returned the watch according to the instructions here from the forum for the SW with which it was released, because with the newer SW 2.46.12 the display lit up incorrectly after waking up by raising my wrist. And here I made a mistake and deleted the package. I will try to contact support, but I’m afraid that only sending it to the service center will help. Thanks for the advice.
-
@Martin-Vrska ah I see. That’s what my friend did. I don’t know if they charged him for service but he got it back quite fast, if I remember correctly.
-
@Martin-Vrska What is this thread about? “Pairing a new device”, or “downgrading watch firmware”?

So what if you accidentally deleted all OTA packages? What does that have to do with pairing a new device?
-
@Squirrel In that case it’s about a “downgrade” of the FW. I apologize for the wrong section. I didn’t know how to label it better. If any of the moderators can, please do so. Thank you.

Forum section is good, if you have Vertical 2, but you could edit the thread title in first post, if forum allows that.
If you need to downgrade, the only hope now would be to have a link to relevant firmware and then opening the link in Suunto app.
Maybe some user here knows how to construct the link from the firmware name, otherwise Suunto could provide it, if they are willing to. -
@Squirrel Thank you. I’m afraid it won’t be possible without service intervention. Suunto support is down today, I’ll try tomorrow. I have version 2.46.12, I would need the one the watch came with - probably 2.44.42.
-
@Martin-Vrska Look at this post https://forum.suunto.com/post/178074
Maybe @Josaiplu could help with your Vertical 2 as well. -
@Squirrel I try to download the one that my race 2 came with :
https://firmware.geo.movescount.com/production/Wismar-fw_2.41.48.25165-U-bd1f3282.sofbut I got access denied

-
@Josaiplu Thanks for the help. I need FW 2.44.42 I think. However, I don’t know how to install the FW on the watch. Is there a guide somewhere? Thanks a lot.
-
@Martin-Vrska you open the url of the linked post on your phone, it will download the fw on the phone
Then you share the fw file to the suunto app and the app will push the fw to the watch
Not sure how it can be done on android but on iOS it works like this
If you manage to found the full name of the fw (from someone that have it on the watch) we could try to download it the url is using the name of the fw -
@JosaipluI I don’t know where to look for the FW
. -
@Tami999 by any chance did you have the needed firmware on your watch ? Or anyone else in order to try pushing it on the device of @Martin-Vrska before he try to send it to service ?
I’m not sure it’s a good idea @ChrisA recommend to not go to this menu, I use it to downgrade but I don’t want to brick your device
