@Luis-Andés-Olmedo I have the screen of the V2 on the AOD setting. On that setting you can always see the time.

It would annoy me also if I had to raise my wrist to see the time. Especially at work 😂

@Audaxjoe my problem with the AOD is that if that reduces the battery from 17 days (that has been my last charging cycle with the Race 2: no 24/7 HR, no notifications, no sleep tracking, 4-5 hours GPS per week) to 10-12… then the technology is not improving my user experience 😛

@Luis-Andés-Olmedo I guess it is a choice you’d make. For me I would rather see the time always and charge more frequently. If at home this is no hardship.

Apparently GPS is similar battery consumption. I’m not sure how realistic this is. Just been out for two hours and lost 6% battery. That is 50% more than the V1.

It is easy to make the argument that the V1 is the better outdoor watch 🤷🏻‍♂️

@JonasLarsson you decission makes a lot of sense to me. I have a Race 2 and I am also considering to sell it and get a V1… I can’t get used to having a watch where I can’t always see the time without wasting a lot of battery (AMOLED).

Definitely I can’t get used to the AMOLED display… I’ve just ordered a V1 and will sell my Race 2.

@Luis-Andés-Olmedo I understand, but I don’t understand. I switched from Vertical 1 to Vertical 2 and when I put both machines next to each other, I can’t believe I could look at the V1 display - the colors are somewhere completely different. The endurance with my 3 hours of training per week, sleep tracking and connection to my mobile is more than a week and the screen experience is incomparable.

@Martin-Vrska I have the same experience. The V2 screen is so much more readable.

Except if on the handlebars on a bike…

@Martin-Vrska I think it depends on where you live. For me 300 of 365 days are sunny and I live at 1600m and exercise between 2500 and 4300m typically in very bright sun without too much shade. The MIP display is the easiest to see in bright sunlight, especially on snow. Until the Race 2/Vertical 2 the AMOLED screens were simply not good enough, however, the new screens show well in bright sun. For me they are equivalent now but in shade the V2/R2 is so much better.

Would you suggest they are equal or better than Apple Watch Ultra ones ?
                    Thanks in advance

Let me explain: with AOD OFF, the AMOLED display is too slow to turn on in certain situations, or it simply doesn’t let me see the time without moving my hand. With AOD ON, I feel like it’s artificial to have the watch emitting light all the time in everyday life; I just don’t like it.

                        Maybe I’m too old-school. 😊

In any case, I hope I won’t need a watch with maps (that is the main reason why I have a smart-sports-watch) when MIP watches are no longer available. Then I’ll be able to train with any Casio or TIMEX Ironman.
