Suunto Vertical 2 General Discussion
-
@isazi Thank you. Product comparison didn’t include it a few hours ago and neither had DCR mentioned it while talking up race predictions in great details.
Can we say software wise Vertical 2 is now fully on par with Race line? No more feature gaps like naps, sleep phases, or LT heart rate?
-
@Brainicus yes they’re now the same, also for sleep stages and so on
-
I think both Race 2 and Vertical 2 are great watches. However, what I find at least for now and for my uses it’s not worth upgrading from my Race and Vertical which is great because I can keep using them hopefully for many years to come
What I find disappointing thought that there are no new software updates as part of this release. What about a better weather widget, a tides app? Etc.

@JonasLarsson
Bogdan1921 is right
Race2 is the same old Race1 without rugged crown with plastic body and plastic lugs + 1 new watchface,
while Vertical 2 is the same old Race1 with rugged crown, metal lugs, added LED torch,- two!! new watchfaces,
BUT without crown 🫢🫢🫢

@isazi I totally agree, very satisfied with my SV1 solar, if I don’t mention the last update and the battery drain. But anyway for me the only difference is the amoled and actually sleep tracking with the different sleep phases. Would like to have it on my SV1. But as you said, I can’t justify en expense of several 100 euros to get this feature. So I have to wait for the next generation when there are maybe som other new features included .
-
Is the training plan beta working on the V2? On all others it don’t.
-
@Sportsfreund what do you mean, it is not on the watch, it is an app feature
-
@isazi After every 2 weeks in training plan there is no more sync. But there is a special thread to this I think.
-
@Sportsfreund yeah but that’s not a watch issue, it seems to be an app issue. The training plans are still in beta

@sebchastang said in Suunto Vertical 2 General Discussion:
As advertised on SV2 pictures, elevation is displayed on the contour line.
I don’t see elevation displayed in the map screenshots in DC Rainmaker review.
Also, speaking about the above map screenshot, it is disappointing to see that the map continues to render trails as dark green on green background. That may look good on a computer screen when the image is enlarged, but in reality the contrast between dark green and green is poor and trails are difficult to see, especially when switching to a higher (200m) zoom level. Also, have you noticed how easy it is to confuse trails with that dotted circle that goes around the screen.
-
Is vertical 2 band fitting vertical 1? This would be my vertical upgrade.
-
@sorinus all Suunto straps since 9P (or earlier, I don’t remember) are 22mm, so yes!
-
Being over 50 and having difficulty seeing what is displayed on my Solar SV1, I was eagerly awaiting this SV2 with AMOLED screen, which I ordered immediately yesterday.
However, I must admit that I am disappointed by the design and weight, which are identical to the previous model, the lack of new features, and the battery life, which has not improved compared to the SV1. Not very exciting.
As for the screen, it looks great and meets my needs.
I hope SUUNTO has some nice surprises in store for us in the next update.
As for charging the watch and downloading maps, is it faster than with the SV1? -
@Frederick-Rochette Why not the Race2? Its lighter and cheaper…
-
@VoiGAS I don’t like the crown…
-
@sky-runner That dotted circle is absolutely odd feature to me. What is the purpose of this? Make mess on screen??
-
Nice watch, but I will stick to my V1 Vertical
Does anyone have a photo comparison of the Forest Green vs Sage Green straps?
-
Thanks!
-
@Highlands I don’t think this is the end of the MIP. I personally like its “combat” configuration regardless of the solar capacity.
-
@Danny-poleg Hopefully, you are right. But taking into account that there’s only one company that still makes MIP displays, I’m not very optimistic. Personally, I like both MIP and amoled and wish watches are made with both types of technology.
