Structured workouts

Does someone know maybe when suunto plan to deliver/add feature like structured workouts plan. Possibility to plan whole workouts based on time duration/distance/pace/hr/lap/calories etc. with think like worm up, run (training, recover) - repeats based trainings, cool down. I would like plan my workouts in movescoint web application and sync it to my watch via cable or via MovescountApp or suuntoApp if he get movescount support.

@Michał-Rudzki Oh, boy… You didn’t use the search function, did you? You have no idea what you are walking into!
If this topic were a dead horse, it is by now so badly beaten, not even bones’ dust remains.
To spare you the read: the feature might or might not be implemented. Suunto’s non-committal. I choose to hope it will come since leaving it out would put Suunto at a disadvantage compared to other big players like Garmin and Polar. And because interval implementation in Spartan and Suunto 9 is so good and can be so easily extended to cover this feature.
But as of yet, nobody promised anyone anything within any time frame.
-
@NickK that was pretty funny!

This. I cannot comprehend that workout planning should be such a big task to implement. And the Ambit 3 implementation gives the blue print on how to do it.
-
@Mads-Sørensen oh yes it is. And in ambit it was not easy

By no means think it was a walk in the park in Ambit.
Please do not take my post as an attack on your good work, but
as the consumer of the product it is just incomprehensible that such a strong feature which was introduced in the Ambit 3 back in 2015, is missing in the Spartan and S9. Looking at others companies the feature is a must have. That being said, I only just recently joined the beta program of the app, which gives a whole other impression on the development. Being outside the beta, my feeling has been one of no progress given the long release cycles. This admittedly causes some frustration. Joining here I see the progress and work being done.
Anyway, I read into your answer that Suunto have done a feasibility study of the feature as I would expect. So the lack of the feature is either due to other priorities or it is simply not feasible by design (which I find hard to understand). Or it is in progress but not ready for public.
-
@Mads-Sørensen I agree completely.
-
Sorry but have many things to handle, but back to you guys. So summary all that there is no views for structured workouts in Movescount webapp or in SunntoApp neither in SportTraker ?
-
@suunto hi can you change your user name ?
-
@A-user-from-Poland never mind I did it for you
-
OMG!!!
I’m thinking about changing my username ‘a-user-form-a-village-of-basque-country’…

I changed it to that.
The user had Suunto nickname and his email is suunto@xxx.pl I dont like this behaviour so I changed it to .pl as his email showed. Lets keep an eye on this one please.

Ah ah … let’s start trolling the trolls

I cannot believe that this feature isn’t a priority! It is totally essential. Come on, Suunto! Get the finger oot!
-
@RacingSnake108 for we, are prio. For them there are always other prios.
-
Aye, surprised this feature isn’t one of the priorities. Working with a coach who’s delivering me training plans so I’m having to go manual. But I can imagine there are plenty of other priorities as well and I can appreciate structured workouts would be a big ticket backlog item for the dev team!
-
Maybe an MVP implemention of this would come via a third-party inititially to import the structured workout. At least the backend support is there along with the watch integration. Suunto app work for Android and iOS platforms could come later to augment the existing functionality. Lot of work there
-
@andrewjknox I think you are one person that well understands

Woot! I’m a backend dev so think it helps to some degree, UI/UX work takes a long time, totally get why you’d offload certain functionality to third parties, especially when you’re not in control of the ecosystem it’s being viewed in. Screen sizes, orientation, resolution, OS versions, phew!
Was also looking at some of your tech stack via the cloud/engineer careers on the Suunto site. Nice

@andrewjknox Refreshing to have an opinion from someone that sounds they have the requisite experience to understand the complexities involved. I know nothing of this but I am a stem cell research scientist and appreciate that implementation can be difficult and complex. Thanks for the insight.
-
@andrewjknox you know a lot of people think some stuff are 30 minutes work.
When you ask them to provide an MPV they back off
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Haha, I live in that world pretty much every day
I feel for you!
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Has there been any change or update to the product roadmap to provide clarification regarding the “workout” functionality previously supported in MovesCount in the “new” Suunto App? Previous threads have said no and I see a lot of talk about the amount of work, level of effort required, etc. but wanted to check. I’m a runner with an Ambit3 and will likely purchase a new watch in the next 6 months and this info will help inform my purchase. Thanks!

This is also a feature I am hoping will come with the Suunto app and Suunto 5 soon. I’m about to embark on a training plan with my coach and have no idea how I’m going to follow without constantly watching my watch or having to use a treadmill.
I’d also like PBs but I am sure that’s another topic.
