Typically Suunto releases updates every Q. Not every time but from my experience.
There is work done on the S9 I know this as a tester.
However, don’t take it as a promise that every Q an update should be out.
Q is the 17th letter, might be every 17 working jours? = 17/5 = 4 week a month
Q might be Quarterly,
@malcyway I agree! I would like to customize the data that is shown, not just the colour. Specifically: seeing sunrise/sunset times, hours till next sunrise/sunset, current HR, daily step count. And remove that stupid dual time!
Just to comment, my main issues with all my Garmin watches has always been battery life. If I was lucky I would get two thirds of the advertised battery life, if not less. This is until the Fenix 5, haven’t had the 5+ or the 6. I’m talking about activity battery life, not day to day (as day to day was always good, except the 5 that was ridden with problems like no other watch in my possession). Because I like to spend long days out in the mountains this is very important to me, and THE reason why I looked at Suunto.
You see the goal left (time) only if you have no activities planned, otherwise the planned activities are shown.
“Cut text” is a known issue due to translations

I just hope suunto will not release a watch like -1 nor 1…
But how about suunto 11?
A good GPS precision
A good OHR precision (both for human and banana)
A good barometer precision
22 firstbeat features (4 more only for suunto watches)
good battery (9’s battery is just so so)
steps counter for human (9’s counter is made for dogs, which means for 4 legs walking)
adding skipping rope as sport mode
good strap quality
The GPS is very good, but not quite at A3P yet…
The barometer for me is perfect, within 1 or 2 m of 4300m peaks that I summit regularly!
I don’t want payments
Firstbeat is ok but not high importance
The battery on the 9 is great, 120h on Ultra with FusedTrack providing unbelievably good tracks…SERIOUSLY what more do you need???
I think many here want Structured workouts, Training Calendar and Waypoints… But those should be able to be implemented on the S9
Yes, I don’t happy with S9’s gps because it’s not as good as a3p’s gps, I don’t even want talk about garmin.
I don’t want say more about barometer because I don’t know how to use a barometer, but I only buy watch with baro, because baro sounds good.
I only need payment when I back from running, no any penny on me but I want a bottle of water…
I don’t have any good experience with firstbeat, its recovery test always shows 15%, but fine I don’t need it but want it.
I don’t use ultra mode, in fact only once, the fusedtracked gps track shows me walking on water.

If you are UK I suspect due to the on going issues with regard to suunto and I do say I suspect because I have noticed a 25-40% drop in prices in past 3 months, you can pick up a very nice deal on Suunto watchs that come with 24months replacement/refund warrantee from https://uk.webuy.com/search?stext=suunto&inStock=1&view=list&inStockOnline=1
If the price drop is as I suspect(garmins have held their price so far on the site) it may show that retailers have no trust in Suunto and their future… THIS IS AN OPINION nothing more.
On Amazon the Fenix 5 Plus is 22% discounted the Suunto 9B 20% discounted. So I guess by your theory they have even less trust in Garmin
On the site you have linked the Garmin is worth a bit more second hand but it’s RRP is also more so without looking at the figures they look quite similar for demand and supply.
I also said it was my opinion
After several activities (cycling, walking, kayaking) downtown, riverside, countryside, in woods and on hills my result is that my Suunto watches are in the following ranking concerning the GPS accuracy:
Ambit 3 and Spartan Ultra at the same level
S9 with GPS
S9 with GPS+Galileo
For me there is no reason to upgrade from a Spartan Ultra or an Ambit 3.
@General_Witt said in How to understand the Barometer:
@zhang965 It keeps spinning, like it’s doing its things but i get no “ok” like message. How long does it take? Do the watch tell you when it’s done?
You are in automatic reference setting
For me it’s not working well.
In the first reference, you can set the current value of altitude, but for hPa I think there is no way
regarding the “I don’t trust maps altitude”… here’s one example I recall: I’ve planned a backcountry skitour in whiterisk platform. this is based on Swiss Topo maps. when I draw the route I don’t know how it looks in reality out there and due to the situation backcountry skiers all know I might go quite far from the “planned” track. the planning once said around 1’600m ascent but we ended up with around 1’900m…
the reason why I “don’t care”: you have to walk the distance anyway

Unbeatable ambits, maybe worth give up on spartan/s line and build ambit with color screen?
Ambit4 with the old GPS antenna, new chipset, longer battery life, higher resolution color screen, and 5 physical buttons would be an absolute winner. Combining all the best features from both Ambit line and the Spartan line would be a bonus.
Ambit on steroids would be competition killer
@aldnet I’ll see what happens by doing that, I really don’t need MC installed on the phone, so it can go.
I did receive a reply in this morning’s E-mail, and they did suggest I send it in, which I decided not to do, as once again, I’m sure it’s some sort of firmware problem, or as aldnet says, a function of both softwares being on the phone.
That case is closed, and I am anxiously awaiting a firmware update to see if that helps, if removing MC doesn’t.
